This happens EVERY time I come back to the District Office 🤨 All jokes aside, come by to my District Office located in Van Nuys if you ever need any constituent services. And even though I’m not there often since I’m up in Sacramento for session, my team is ready to help!

Alright everyone, we are in part THREE of my series breaking down the Budget process in CA. The May Revision is where California’s budget conversation gets real. Updated revenues, revised proposals, and tough negotiations all shape what happens before the June 15th deadline.

This Memorial Day weekend, across SD 20, community members paused to honor our fallen servicemembers. While we can never repay them for their sacrifice, we said their names this weekend and ensured we spoke life into their memories so that they may never be forgotten.

This morning volunteers as young as 4 gathered together in honor of what this weekend actually means. We payed tribute to our buried brothers & sisters & spoke their names to bring life back into their memories so that they may never be forgotten.

These past two days, I have spent 13 hours combing through the Governor’s May Revise Budget cuts in Sub 3: Health and Human Services subcommittee. I’m tired and frustrated but we have to continue to fight to protect services for people.

Valor Academy students sent my office letters w/ questions. Instead of writing back I decided to pay them a visit where I could answer their questions in person. One of the most welcoming & engaged group of students I’ve ever spoken with. SD 20 has a bright future with these kids leading the way.

My serious and real response to the Governor’s Budget May Revise on health and human services. Our next step is crucial as we work with the Governor and Assembly to balance the budget that hopefully builds in a foundation to make corporations pay their fair share. (1/2)

I had the chance to speak on a panel of Latina doctors for #LatinaActionDay. To improve care for Latinas & families we need to refine child/adult care costs + proper pay to allow for better jobs & benefit coverage. We need to advocate for them by investing in all levels of care.

🚒On Fire Service Day, I visited Sylmar’s Station 91 to meet our local firefighters! 🌾 I also spent time with the Future Farmers of America at Canoga Park High in #SD20! FFA youth in #CanogaPark are learning to own, grow & care for animals and fresh produce to help their communities!

This Mother’s Day, I am proud to celebrate the mothers & mother figures who strengthen our communities every day. Denim Day is every last Wednesday of April to recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month. At the forefront of this day, we advocate for accountability, not just awareness - because survivors are still being failed while harm is often deliberate and protected.

For a second year in a row, I partnered with CalTrans & ASM Rodriguez for Earth Day, to clean up the 5 Ramp in Sun Valley. We want to make sure it gets the attention it deserves. Earth Day may be over but you can always reach my office to report any Community Service Requests for our freeways!

#TeamMenjivar’s new District Rep Olivia is highlighting the work of NEW Economics for Women, an organization that has supported women & families across #SD20 for over 40 years! From housing to small business support, their programs are helping build pathways to independence across the #SFV.

Getting our taxes done with a side of pupusas. I partnered again w/ Golden State Opportunity & NEW Economics for Women, + LA VITA, to bring free tax assistance to my constituents. This year we generated a total of $82,467 in refunds. Don’t forget that tomorrow is your last day to file!

In the 90s, the CA State Senate was a different world, dominated by male voices. Today, we aren’t just at the table, we’re leading it. For the first time in state history, women hold the majority with a record-breaking 21 seats of the 40-member Senate! Happy Women’s History Month!

It’s an honor to celebrate Women’s History Month by recognizing a woman from Sun Valley who has left an unforgettable mark on our community. For over 30 years, Stella Arrington has organized her community, been part of every neighborhood group & advocated for safety. Stella has made SD20 proud!

I joined the largest Wat Thai temple to host a Medi-Cal enrollment event and connect with community members in North Hollywood. Our office partnered with LA County DPSS to help residents sign up for services and I tried some delicious Thai desserts and enjoyed a beautiful Thai dance performance.

District Rep. Andrés met with Home Again LA in #Burbank to highlight the vital work they’re doing to support unhoused and low-income families. From a place to stay and rapid rehousing to meals and hygiene services. Their mission is powerful, lift up families and help them move forward.

When repeat offenders, on their fourth DUI, tell officers that they’ll be back on the road by morning, it is clear the #CALeg must take decisive legislative action. Attacks by ICE on our neighbors are having drastic negative impacts on our economy in LA. On top of #SanFernandoValley being hit the hardest in all of LA County, 44% of businesses report an over 50% loss in revenues as a result of the raids! This is detrimental for #SD20 families & local businesses.

Today, students across #Burbank and the #SanFernandoValley walked out not only in anger, but in conviction. I am incredibly proud of the middle & high school students in #SD20 who are standing up for their communities and refusing to stay silent in the face of harm, even though so many adults have.

Hey y’all! Your California Senate Democratic Caucus Chair here with a quick update. This week we have been talking all things BUDGET, keeping our eyes on building a Foundation for the Future! We discussed the priorities we are fighting for and how these are aligned with the future we want to build.

Today I was proud to present a check of over $12K to Los Anarchists Junior Derby Team in #Burbank, raised through the CA Legislative Softball Game. This funding will help more young people roll into the sport by covering gear & equipment! Because everyone deserves a chance to play, skate, and shine✨

Today marks a somber anniversary in Los Angeles, one year since historic wildfires tore through our city, claiming lives, homes, and generations of memories.

Trump will freeze $10B in funding for ONLY certain states, inc. CA. This will affect Temporary Assistance for NEEDY FAMILIES, #CalWORKs, cutting off access to child care subsidies & a critical line of defense in preventing families from falling even deeper into poverty by enabling parents to work.

Rooted in tradition, lighting the way toward the future. Happy #Kwanzaa!

Honoring police K-9 Spike, whose bravery protected both officers & our #Burbank community.🐾💙 Spike was killed in the line of duty on November 22, & his sacrifice will never be forgotten. Our hearts are with Officer Salas, Burbank Police & all the officers, human & canine, who served alongside Spike.

I joined LAPD Mission Station for a ride-along through their service area. Sgt. Brien & I heard mostly domestic violence calls. And while I previously worked w/ #LAPD’s Domestic Abuse Response Team, it was valuable to see how current protocols and mental health responses work on the ground.
