When I met with the Joel family at their Maesbury Marsh farm last week I was struck by their enthusiasm and just how brave they are to have entered the dairy sector.

This evening I voted for single living military accommodation to be brought up to the Decent Homes Standard. Unfortunately Labour, the Tories and Reform all refused to support this.

The Government’s Health Bill doesn’t fix the problems patients actually face. Too many people still can’t get a GP appointment, A&E waits are rising, and social care is in crisis - yet the focus is on shuffling responsibility around Whitehall and centralising power, not on frontline care.

The Government is currently reviewing its Banking Hub eligibility criteria - sign my petition and together we can call for better banking facilities for Ellesmere and Wem. North Shropshire's towns have so much untapped potential, but the lack of banking services holds them back.

The company in charge of emptying our public bins across North Shropshire have told me that issues will be resolved by 1st June. If that's not the case, and rubbish is still overflowing, let me know and together we'll make sure Kier plc deliver an effective service.

Businesses keep telling me - banking in market towns just isn’t doesn't work for them. There’s nowhere to open or manage accounts, sign documents, get advice, or sort problems face‑to‑face. Online and phone banking simply isn’t enough for many rural businesses.

When park home owners sell their homes, they are hit with an outdated and unfair 10% sales commission, which strips value from people’s only home and life savings, and is something that also impacts rural and high‑cost areas.

Accident victims are being misled by fake insurance ads in search results. The Government must stop 'paid ad spoofing', where drivers are tricked into dealing with rogue firms, left facing huge bills. Fraud is not victimless – honest motorists pay the price. Tech platforms and regulators must act.

The Liberal Democrats recently called for a maternity rescue plan, including a commissioner, guaranteed one‑to‑one midwife care during labour, and a consultant on maternity wards 24/7. Warm words aren’t enough when the lives of women and babies are at stake. It’s time for action.

Too many people struggle to get a GP appointment in North Shropshire - and it's even worse when new housing developments arrive without healthcare to meet demand.

⛔Let's end the great sewage cover-up. 💩Water companies should be forced to tell us the AMOUNT of sewage that pours into our lovely rivers and streams. 🍺After all, you wouldn't ask in a pub for 'three-and-a-half seconds of beer'. #sewage #riverpollution

Even if you can get to the station at Whitchurch, it isn't accessible to everyone, so no wonder people choose to use the car. If people are to truly realise the benefits the railway can bring, we need step-free access to both platforms there.

The consultation for the pylon plan into North Shropshire has been questionable at best. The power lines are supposed to connect to a substation but there isn't even a proposal for that yet. We are expecting it later this year - how can we be reassured it’s not already a done deal?

That's why it's vital Oswestry is reconnected to the mainline - a rail link would mean businesses could attract employees from a wider area; young people could access more education options; and greater investment and regeneration.

The previous government left our NHS on its knees, with doctors working under increased pressure. We also know how difficult the public finances are after years of Conservative mismanagement - so a 26% increase for resident doctors just doesn't seem realistic at the moment.

People living along the former HS2 route to Crewe have been badly let down. HS2 needs be held to account for commitments made and I’m pleased the Minister will meet with me and other MPs to put things right for those in North Shropshire who have been so poorly treated.

2 3

Broadband speeds are still far too slow in large parts of North Shropshire and rural residents and businesses have been left behind by the botched Project Gigabit contract delivery.

6 4

We all know the roads in Shropshire aren't good enough. Year after year of managed decline has taken its toll. This is rightly a key priority for the council, which must make sure it moves the highways contractors away from quick-fire repairs to instead deliver long-term prevention.

5 2

We need OFCOM to keep the pressure on Royal Mail, to make sure it’s putting the resources in place to enable letters to be delivered on time. In rural places like North Shropshire, a letter can be a lifeline.

3 2

We need action now to make the UK the safest place for a woman to have a baby - and give mums and families the care they deserve at what should be the happiest time in their life.

With this done, the plans in place, and the junction being one of the worst in the county for pedestrians and drivers, what more does the Government need in order to fund changes that will at last make it safe?

For some residents and businesses in North Shropshire, a trip to the Post Office is at best inconvenient and at worst impossible.

6 2

NHS dentistry was allowed to fall apart under the Conservatives. The Labour Government promised an extra 700,000 urgent appointments to solve this crisis, but how many of them have actually been delivered?

5 3

We must restore the trust of the British public. We have to show that lessons have been learned about political scandal, about cover up, about entitlement. We have to show we’re taking actions to restore trust in what this House is up to and what the wider establishment is allowed to get away with.

In Shropshire more than 150,000 patients waited longer than a month to see a GP last year. It's shocking, but not surprising - we have 50 fewer qualified GPs than we did a decade ago.

7 8

Funding based on need? I couldn't agree more. Yet services cost far more to deliver in rural areas where our populations are older and the need is greater. The Government's long-term funding formula must change to reflect that.

👮‍♂️ Local officers make a real difference in keeping our communities safe. 👮‍♀️ This week I asked the Policing Minister what she is doing to support North Shropshire's police teams.

➡️ Military accommodation in Shropshire - and across the country - is still not up to standard. ⬆️ Upgrades are long overdue and must be prioritised. ➡️It should not be too much to ask that forces accommodation has a reliable water supply.

5 3

We were promised 'lightning fast' broadband, but the Project Gigabit rollout in North Shropshire has been a shambles. The Government must now prioritise those areas that have been badly let down.

7 2

The ECO 4 scheme left people out of pocket and with damage to their homes. It was good to hear the Secretary of State commit to reparations for them. He also made a commitment to avoid the same things happening with the Warm Homes Plan, and I hope that's the case.

The impact of poor connectivity in rural areas shouldn't be underestimated. And it's getting worse....

7 4

I'll be telling Minister Hendy why he's got his facts wrong, why Whitchurch station needs step-free access, and why this decision is a disgrace.

10 2

This Government have repeatedly stated growth as one of their key missions, but misguided policies are achieving the opposite in rural places like North Shropshire.

Good to hear recognition from the Prime Minister that Sandra's experience was unacceptable. But, after the worst year on record for people waiting more than 12hrs to be admitted to A&E, there are so many more cases like Sandra's. Let's end all 12hr A&E waits. Sign the petition below.

2 0

Sandra endured over 30 hours on a plastic chair in A&E, while ambulances filled the car park. 2025 was the worst year on record for patients waiting longer than 12 hours to be seen. We need a legal guarantee that this will end and patients can start to receive the care they expect, and deserve.

5 2

Why does the Government continue this daft policy of restricting growth in rural areas? Its decisions over more than a year have had a devastating impact on farming families, communities and businesses.

It’s been a privilege to champion North Shropshire in 2025. From speaking up in Parliament to meeting local businesses, from campaigning against poor Gov. policy to supporting local people, it’s been a busy year. As we ring in 2026, I’m looking forward to getting back to it in Parliament next week.

8 3

It’s hard to believe it was four years ago this week that we had the North Shropshire by-election. So much has changed in that time – not least the four prime ministers, five chancellors and five health secretaries…

I met with management at Royal Mail's Whitchurch depot. It's clear that they are aware of the ongoing issues, and I was very happy to hear that improvements are planned for the New Year. Postal staff are working very hard and I hope that the forthcoming changes mean a better experience for everyone.

7 1

Missing or late post? You're not alone. You shouldn't have to cross your fingers that your Christmas card will arrive at all this year. What's worse, people are telling me they are missing important appointments. I've asked to meet Royal Mail to pass on complaints and get the situation resolved.

The Government's ambition's for the future of the railway must not ignore places like Shropshire, where transport links are nowhere near good enough. #railwaybill #railways #Whitchurch #Oswestry #NorthShropshire #Shropshire

❌ This was a botched budget. ❌ The Labour Government has failed to deliver. ❌ Again. #Budget #Budget2025

👊 High Streets have been hit hard 🙈 Rural areas and market towns overlooked - funding diverted to metropolitan areas. ❌ The economy isn't working for North Shropshire. We all want good public services, a fair tax system. The Chancellor can change course, I hope she listens #Budget2025
