The utter rejection of information, evidence and science by this Government is astoundingly reckless. They didn't even want to see, let alone understand, the risks to the critical work of the Ministry for the Environment that would result from its disestablishment ☠️☠️

This Government believes disestablishing the Ministry for the Environment and cutting funding for the environment is 'necessary' 🤦‍♀️☠️ If only they understood there is no economy, let alone a decent future for humanity if we don't secure the **actual necessicity** of a functional environment 💦🌏

2026 Budget. That time when the Government cemented the fact they have absolutely zero understanding of how the environment is the foundation of our existence 🫣😑☠️

BREAKING ‼️ My members bill has just been drawn from the biscuit tin that would draw a line in stopping any new mining on public Conservation land 🌳🦎🐧🐝🦋 ...with all the Government's attacks on nature, this could not come at a more critical time. Big ups to the original bill holder Eugenie Sage 🙌

This week the Government looks set to push ahead with the disestablishment of the country's Ministry for the Environment. All at a time when they're boasting about cutting thousands more public sector jobs ☠️☠️

That time when the most anti-environment Government in Aotearoa NZ's history decided it would be a good idea to disestablish 40 years of the Ministry for the Environment despite overwhelming rejection from submitters& no clear justification or assurance of ongoing transparency ☠️

There was just one key thing missing from the public hearings with experts, iwi, environmental and civil society groups on the Luxon Government's proposal to disestablish the Ministry for the Environment.....any form of support ❌️❌️❌️ Who exactly is this Government governing for....?

Another year, same reality that our rivers, lakes, and groundwater will continue to be polluted because of the Luxon Government prioritising private profits at any cost ☠️☠️ We need action, and when it's so clear Luxon's Government can't deliver on that, we need a new Green-led Government ✊️💧

Last year, over 9000 students were exposed to unsafe drinking water at school. That's unacceptable. Parents and teachers should be able to trust the water coming out of their tap, is safe. We all deserve a Government that treats the protection of drinking water sources as a foundational priority.

Today was the opening AND closing of public hearings on the disestablishment of the Ministry for the Environment. This was also the last chance to question the outgoing Minister about being the worst Minister "for the Environment" in Aotearoa's history ☠️ Kiwis deserve so much better. Enrol. VOTE.
