Today at PROC MPs catch at the very last minute what would have been quite the embarrassing oversight in Bill C-25. Prior to today's amendment Official Agents were been tied to candidates for eternity (rather than per election cycle)

Who funds the LBC??? Soros? Illuminati? Enquiring Senator needs to know🙄

"Our goal at the LBC is not to do long ballot and long ballot and long ballot for the next decades, our goal is to have a real democratic system that is neutral and equal for all Canadians" CoRhino

I don't think the rules for hockey games should be written by the winners of the last Stanley cup...so why are the rules for the election written by the winners of the last election" -Sébastien CoRhino

Sebastien CoRhino appeared at Senate today😀 Lots more clips incoming!

Last clip of the day. Senator Todd Lewis complements the LBC as getting "a lot of press" and "very effective" I've always suspected the real gripe MPs have with long ballots is that we get attention and how we use that attention, EC's write in ballot solved all other issues.

CEO of Elections Canada responding to a question about gerrymandering in the Senate today: "[The act] was created to take away from political actors the task of drawing boundaries...and it does create completely independent commissions and it is a highly valued aspect of our democratic process"

Professor Andrea Lawlor explains to PROC why it is a problem that MPs have left political parties and the personal data they have on Canadians exempt from privacy law & how bill C-25 does alarmingly little to safeguard voters' data & prevent privacy breaches

Another PROC MP fooled by Northern Perspective 🤦...Matt Jeneroux double checks to make sure Bill C-25 would ban blank candidate forms

I can't get over how nuts it is that the MPs reviewing bill C-25, a bill to stop long ballots and election misinformation, are themselves convinced by a (terribly) edited photo from a Youtuber that they need to ban blank nomination forms WE NEED A BETTER SYSTEM OF DECIDING ELECTION RULES LOL

1 1

Today Cooper tripled down on his "blank form" conspiracy, demanding a special amendment...all LBC signature nomination forms have always had the names of candidates printed on them before hand so 🤷 Got to say impressive (and kind of nuts) how much one Youtuber's fabricated photo can bamboozle MPs

2 0

MP Cooper once again doubling down on the completely fabricated "blank nomination form" conspiracy he saw in a Youtube video. Bill C-25 is intended to stop long ballots, and also to curtail election misinformation, yet here we are watching misinformation inform the very creation of that bill🙃

Michael Kram is worried C-25's measures may not be enough to stop long ballots, suggests resurrecting candidate wealth test

Today C-25's new anti-long ballot amendments presented to PROC for consideration

Counterpoints: 1️⃣For schmos like us, being an MP would be a great gig with solid benefits and flexible hours plus a vote in the HOC...who wouldn't desire this? 2️⃣We just had 2 byelections because Freeland and Blair left for new careers less than a year into their terms...

From March 12th 2026, Senator Prosper speaking on the C-4 changes to the elections act and correctly identifying that MPs are in a conflict of interest when it comes to deciding their own election rules... to the inevitable detriment of Canadian voters.

Stopping the Longest Ballot Committee from pointing out that MPs should not write the rules of their own elections is the literally the most pressing and important issue MPs can conceive of

[Conservative partisans]: When people run as independent candidates that's actually terrorism. [NDP and Liberal partisans]: You're so right for that bestie 🙂

What a rollercoaster of a year. Huge thank you to all the candidates and supporters who made 2025's longest ballot campaigns possible❤️❤️❤️ It's been incredible watching what a ragtag group of amateurs can pull off✊ Looking forward to 2026 😀 #electoralreform #recordbreaking #funtimes

Counterpoint: Politicians writing their own election rules undermines democracy...

Bill 14: The first ever anti-long ballot legislation, courtesy of Danielle Smith's (rather embattled) UCP. If passed, Alberta voters would be prohibited from nominating more than 1 candidate each, and candidates will need to collect 100 nomination signatures (up from the current 25).

🧵2/4 Northern Perspective worked hard to get their accusation known, repeating it many times on their Youtube Channel during the Battle River Crowfoot Byelection. Their edited photo even made it to parliament: Below is MP Michael Cooper holding up the image they manipulated.

4 0

🧵1/4 Did Northern Perspective edit a photo to make it appear blank? (Yes) For 3 months the Youtube channel Northern Perspective has been accusing us of collecting nomination signatures without a candidates name on the form. Their proof... a photo they "zoomed-in and enhanced" ...

1/3 Last week at PROC, profs lined up to support the "1 candidate/OA" proposal. What caught our attention was that they are not proposing 1 candidate/per OA/per riding. To get a better grasp on why they are so interested in this change we took a look at the 2025 election returns...

MP Michael "I saw a youtube video" Cooper, being reminded of the reality of the situation by the CEO of Elections Canada... A disturbing example of a politician taking clickbait election misinformation seriously.

"Picking your elected representative is not a joke, I think the longer we have this...the less confidence Canadians have that [MPs] can do anything right, including elections" - MP Melissa Lantsman on the Longest Ballot Committee
