Today marks the start of Black History Month. This month, we honor & celebrate the accomplishments, leadership, and lasting impact of Black Americans here in CA & across the nation – like Claudette Colvin, a civil rights figure who inspired the Montgomery Bus Boycott & recently passed away.

My vision for America’s next 250 years is to lessen our reliance on fossil fuel energy and to make further investments into our transition to clean energy. Our climate crisis is currently happening and our future depends on us to act NOW.

California’s universities like our @uofcalifornia.bsky.social campuses are a cornerstone of America’s global competitiveness. Defunding higher education and research doesn’t hurt California. It weakens the entire country.

Yesterday, I stood shoulder to shoulder with UNAC/UHCP members at the Kaiser Unfair Labor Practice Strike in Riverside. Nurses & healthcare workers are frontline heroes, not bargaining chips. They deserve a fair contract, fair wages, & safe working conditions NOW! #TogetherWeWin #UNACUHCPStrong

Education changes lives. As the only elected voting member of the UC Board of Regents, the CSU Board of Trustees, and the CCC Board of Governors — I am committed to ensuring that our education system is accessible, affordable, and continues to serve all students.

53 years ago, a Supreme Court decision protected reproductive freedom and ensured everyone access to safe healthcare. Although Roe v. Wade has been overturned, our belief remains the same. Everyone should have the right and the autonomy to make decisions about their body. The fight will continue.

No matter the challenge, Californians continue to meet the moment with resilience, resolve, and results. While others doubted democracy’s ability to deliver, California proved what’s possible. I’m grateful for @governor.ca.gov Newsom’s steady, principled leadership over the last 7 years.

Today marks one year since the devastating firestorms tore through SoCal. We remember the lives lost, honor the communities forever changed, and stand with everyone rebuilding and healing. The Trump Administration needs to approve the federal disaster funding Californians need to fully recover.

California’s coast is NOT for sale. Across party lines, Californians are united in saying NO to offshore drilling and its devastating impacts on our coast. This fight is just beginning. Trump’s attempt to sell our coastline to oil companies will not stand.

2025 was a year of real progress: protecting rights, expanding opportunity & showing up for communities in every corner of CA. I’m deeply grateful to serve as LG and proud of what we’ve accomplished together. As we look to 2026, I’m energized, optimistic & ready to keep delivering for Californians.

I opposed yesterday’s UC tuition increase because students shouldn’t be the solution to structural deficits. Californians are struggling to afford basic necessities. Raising tuition only pushes the dream to pursue higher education further out of reach.

For decades, Oxnard residents raised concerns about the Ormond Beach Power Plant & its impact on local air quality. After 7 months of negotiations, we reached an agreement with the plant’s operator, GenOn, to invest $1.5M in air quality monitoring & public outreach as part of their lease extension.

California & the White House do not share the same values, especially when it comes to feeding our kids. This SNAP/CalFresh disruption wasn’t unavoidable. The administration has the funds to prevent it. This is an intentionally manufactured hunger crisis, & American families are paying the price.

This #FilipinoAmericanHistoryMonth, I visited Spoon and Fork to meet chef Joanne Suavillo who shares her Filipina heritage through delicious dishes like lumpia, tapsilog, lechon kawaii, and halo halo. California: let’s support local Filipino American gems like Spoon and Fork this month & beyond!

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I joined Sen. Susan Rubio — a fearless advocate for survivors — to shine a light on an issue that affects far too many families across CA. Nearly 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men in the U.S. experience domestic violence.

I met with city leaders from LA County’s Gateway Cities to talk about the ICE operations targeting our communities. These cities — home to vibrant Latino and immigrant families — have faced multiple raids and arrests of hardworking people simply doing their jobs.
