Should we ban social media for under 16s? Thanks to everyone who responded to my survey. There was a clear majority in favour of a ban but lots of other issues raised as well. We need to get the balance right so young people are safe online. Read the full report below 👇

Out knocking on doors in Blantyre to pick up local issues - not just at election time. And some UK good news that you might have missed this week - inflation down, fuel duty frozen, immigration under control. More to do, but progress. Enjoy the sun 🌞

Great to be at the East of England Energy Group's Southern North Sea Conference celebrating 25 years of innovation, expertise + ambition across the energy sector. It's what our energy strategy is all about - energy security, good jobs and investment in communities the length and breadth of the UK.

On Thursday, we have the chance to change Scotland. The SNP has had two decades. Reform is only interested in division. Give Scottish Labour five years to prove this isn’t as good as it gets in Scotland.

No country should be forced into darkness by war. Which is why the funding the UK and others provide to re-build Ukraine’s energy infrastructure is so important. Here's my short video diary from my visit to Ukraine last weekend. 📽️👇

Fantastic to attend the opening of Harriet Gardens - a new service in Rutherglen providing temporary accommodation alongside the support people experiencing homelessness need to need to get back on their feet. Really proud to see this open in our community.

The Royal Burgh of Rutherglen is 900 years old and to celebrate there are banners in each part of the Burgh. I went out for a run on Easter Sunday to see if I could find them - missed a few but a good 11k route if the sun stays out! Good luck if you go looking for them all too!

Alleluia! Christ is risen! An unusual snow blizzard to welcome in Easter this morning, but a beautiful service, loud as always “thine be the glory” and Easter eggs found. May the peace of the Risen Christ be with you and all those you love this Easter Sunday. 🕊️

From today, energy bills will come down. Labour took the decision to bring down bills by asking the wealthiest to pay a little more. That’s the fair thing to do. We know there’s more to do to tackle the cost of living but this is an important step.

From just two turbines out at sea to a clean energy revolution across Britain, Blyth is where UK offshore wind began.⚡️ Now there's a new chapter - unlocking more of the seabed for offshore wind and investing in manufacturing. The Clean Power Mission delivers for all of the UK.

Tackling the cost of living is this government's number one priority. That's why energy bills will fall next week. But we're also learning the right lessons from the current conflict to protect families in the future.

Imagine if in your weekly shop, you could pick up plug-in solar panels that help save on your energy bills? Well, in some parts of Europe you can do just that. We’re working with industry to bring plug-in solar to UK shops within months.

Bravo the Bishop of Kirkstall, who explains and models British values far better than the narrow mindedness of Nick Timothy and the modern Conservative Party.

Electrifying the country is anything but boring. Meet Caroline – a boring machine that will dig a tunnel under the Thames so that we can send more clean power to homes & businesses. ✅jobs ✅energy security ✅clean power A crucial part of our #cleanpower mission.

Burgh Primary pupils have taken over my podcast 👀🎙️ Ep 4 of 'A Blether With..' is out, with me in the hot seat as pupils from Burgh Primary stepped up as interviewers. They asked brilliant, insightful questions and kept me on my toes! Listen now at: michaelshanksmp.co.uk/a-blether-wi...

The Tories and Reform want to keep us tied to fossil fuels we don’t control. Labour’s clean power mission will bring down your bill, protect our energy security, create thousands of new jobs and tackle the climate crisis.

A historic moment for UK offshore wind – my view from Edinburgh 👀

Clean, homegrown power is the right choice to bring down bills for good. Offshore wind will create thousands of jobs throughout Britain, through projects like Berwick Bank in Scotland, helping to power Scotland's clean energy future. My interview on BBC Radio Scotland 👇

With tens of thousands of jobs being created through the clean power transition, there is a range of opportunities to join the booming sector. Brilliant to join the Flexitricity team, who are building the future of clean energy- right in the heart of sunny Edinburgh.

After decades of underinvestment we're driving forward the biggest upgrade in Britain's electricity grid in generations. Making sure our electricity remains resilient, creating thousands of jobs across the country and delivering economic growth to every corner of the UK.

Our clean energy mission means good jobs, regional growth, and investment for local communities. Trailblazing carbon capture projects Protos & Heidelberg Materials are securing 500 skilled clean energy jobs and apprenticeships in North Wales & the North-West.

Any increase in bills is a worry for families. But the only way to reduce bills for all of us and for good is to end the fossil fuel penalty we're all paying and deliver clean, homegrown power. Reform and the Tories are against that because they want to gamble with your future.

On C4 News earlier - Sizewell C is a vital project for our energy security but also an economic opportunity - 10,000 jobs, 1,500 apprenticeships and supply chain investment right across the UK. This government is delivering a new golden age for nuclear power in Britain.
