12. God of War: Ragnarok Genuinely an astounding game. I am very motivated to play the post-game & hit 100%. I already did most of what I could before taking down the finale! The writing is terrific, even the dialogue rarely feels unnatural. It immaculately improves on everything 2018 did. Big fan!

11. Mixtape (NSW2) A genuinely wonderful coming-of-age fantasy that terrifically encapsulates the silliness of teenage suburban rebellion and the often misplaced confidence of the average, insecure high-school-graduate. The dialogue doesn’t always feel natural, but the narrative sticks the landing.

Personally I think a lot of folks, particularly the angry and confused ones, are misinterpreting Mixtape as a “90s Simulator” rather than the “Coming-of-Age Fantasy” it actually is

10. Luigi’s Mansion (NSO) Still as charming as ever. I don’t think I can ever really got tired of this game. Every once in a while it just scratches an itch

9. God of War (2018) I stopped playing this some time in 2020 (probably cause I moved that year) and decided last week to return and finish it up. Which was a great choice! Solid game, fantastic camera work, and I immediately booted up Ragnarok after getting the Home ending. Excited for more!

8. Planet of Lana What a terrific game. The visuals are incredible, the soundtrack was astoundingly good, and it really got at my heartstrings. Plus it was so tight for a side-scrolling puzzle-adventure, everything felt purposeful and concise. Really glad a buddy told me to try this one asap.

7. DP:Switchback VR It’s so funny experiencing the Supermassive devs’ rail-bound shooter. I’m so used to serious projects from them, & this certainly tries to fit that bill, but in the end this game is just a riot in the same ways House of the Dead always was. I saved everybody on my first try too!

First attempt at an apartment complex in Pokopia, with dual-level entry access. Realized when I finished I forgot a place for an elevator lol Thankfully it’s all smaller Mons moving in here

6. Resident Evil: Requiem First of all, if Switch 2 is going to continue only capturing in 30fps, then I guess I’m gonna have to start using my Elgato more. Anyway, this game rules. I think it spends way too much time reminiscing & struggles to form its own identity, but it’s still pretty stellar.

Flower Luigi is too cute lol

5. Pokémon Pokopia I rolled credits after ~70 hours of gameplay, but I’m nowhere near done. I still have around 100 Pokémon to find, a few areas to max level 10, and plenty of secrets to uncover. But this game is incredible, for Pokémon fans and life-sim fans alike. It’s already a Switch 2 staple.

Ok it’s technically not the first three notes of the piece, but the point is it is so intrusive for me lol

Shoutout to my daughter for accidentally button-mashing too early in the round yet securing the win anyway

CPU Koopa losing a dual mini-game to my wife, which he instigated with a Dual Glove, followed by landing on her space immediately afterwards, and only betting 3 coins this time around, is the humor from Mario Party I live for 😂

4. Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Yep, I’m pretty sure the ball is rolling and I’ll be doing a lot of Zelda replays this year for the 40th. I 100% this on NSO because Majora is maybe the one Zelda game you absolutely have to in order to get the full experience. Top 5 Zelda game, still, for me.
