What worries me about the Ebola outbreak: the CDC is asking for volunteers to staff outbreaks, while Americans who suspect Ebola exposure aren’t being allowed home. That’s not preparedness. That’s a warning sign.

A possible third country is now being affected by Ebola, and people are finding out on social media before hearing anything from our own CDC. That should concern everyone.

Healthcare should be simple: affordable prescriptions, guaranteed reproductive care, accessible mental healthcare, paid family leave, and coverage that isn’t tied to your employer.

Preventing HIV should not come with shame or barriers. People deserve access to PrEP, PEP, routine testing, and the medication that works best for their bodies — without stigma and without politicians treating healthcare like a culture war.

I want legislation on day one that protects LGBTQ+ people’s access to healthcare — including PrEP coverage across all insurance plans and aid for the uninsured.

What I most ❤️ about NYC. I’m running to make it more affordable so we can all do more of the things we love.

Funny how polls get used to decide who belongs in debates, who gets media coverage, and who can raise money, while some of us don’t even get included in the polls.

The Ebola outbreak in DRC and Uganda is a global health emergency of internacional concern, the highest level of alert, according to @who.int. The US can and must step up.

This is serious. There is no vaccine. We need to contain the spread and help Uganda and DRC do that. And the CDC needs to do its job at informing Americans about this deadly outbreak.

HIV prevention should not come with barriers, stigma, or political games. Access to PrEP saves lives.

Hantavirus is not “the next COVID.” Human-to-human transmission is difficult. But if a more dangerous virus emerged tomorrow, we’d be in serious trouble: the CDC has been hollowed out, we’ve withdrawn from the WHO, and we are no better prepared for the next pandemic when, not if, it happens.
