Earlier this year I raised an issue at full Council that residents regularly talk to me about, potholes! The then Cabinet Member Norma Mackie spoke clearly about the work done so far and the plans for the future. I'm keen to see this new machine in action soon.

On Tuesday the Economy and Culture Scrutiny Committee received an update on the Recommendations from our Filming Inquiry. It's promising that changes have been made but this progress needs keep going, so Cardiff is not only visually present in films & shows but fundamentally benefits from it.

On Thursday I attended Full Council remotely and asked the Cabinet Member about justifying staying on X and praised the community action we've seen in Minnesota in the last month.

FOR Cardiff conducted a survey in 2023 that found one-in-five women do not go out after it gets dark in our city. I wanted to know what we were doing to make Cardiff a safe place for women.

We recently scrutinised the role of Cardiff's City Centre Wardens and I asked about how they react when major events come to our city like the rugby, Taylor Swift concerts and long Easter weekends.

The decision by Microsoft to hide a substantive fee hike (42%) on the personal version of Office pass the exorbitant cost of AI word salad onto the user has been criticised by Chi Onwurah MP. As such, I am very glad that this is something that Cardiff Council is keeping a watch on.

At full Council I asked about the average cost of a pedestrian crossing, previously I've received answers from the Cabinet Member on a crossing not going in on Bridge Road prior to any larger transport plans, due to potential risk in altering it. I wanted to get a clear picture of that risk cost.

Just to quickly follow-up, it really is an impressive sight to see the water cascading around.

Sometimes Scrutiny is about digging deep on an issue, sometimes it's just about getting that simple clarity. On the Cardiff Market restoration (to be completed Sept 2027) the Budget documents list the Welsh Government, the National Lottery and Council money but no Shared Prosperity Funding.
