Yesterday was World Clean Air Day. In Hamilton, our air quality remains affected by industrial pollution including emissions of known carcinogens benzo(a)pyrene and benzene. We need to hold industry accountable and enforce strict timelines for the transition to clean steel production.

We know the Conservative privatization playbook. Step 1: Defund public services to the point of dysfunction Step 2: Introduce privatization as a solution We can’t accept this for our hospitals. We can restore and expand public healthcare with smart investments and innovative local solutions.

Not a single piece of legislation aimed at addressing our healthcare crisis in this entire session❗️ This government is serving themselves, not the people of Ontario.

Supervised consumption sites save lives and promote community safety. And yet in two weeks, 8 more sites will close because of this Conservative government. We need to use every tool available, including treatment and harm reduction to stop the toxic drug crisis from harming our communities.

The only thing that is unsustainable about our health system is who’s running it. We need a provincial government that understands that investing in public healthcare is an investment in our communities, our economy, and in the people they are elected to serve.

Last week the Conservative’s passed Bill 75 which includes provisions to expand cash bail. This will not promote community safety - it will slow down our courts, risks more innocent people pleading guilty, and will distract from the meaningful bail reform we need.

When 2 million people do not have access to primary care, we need to be welcoming international medical graduates, not putting up more barriers. #onpoli #health
