Whereas I had the security of a council flat, kids in poverty today are growing up in temporary accommodation. I’ve been in Gillingham with @naushabahkhanmp.bsky.social, speaking to families who’ve been failed by the housing crisis. Kids need homes, not hostels.

Public service and the spirit of community run deep for Britain’s farmers. Labour let them down. We must do right by them, and the many others who we haven’t delivered for. That starts by listening to them, which is what I am doing 👇

On my road trip visiting people and places that have been lost to Labour since the 2024 General Election, I met farmers in Hexham to hear how we can bring them back into the fold. We must look after these custodians of our land who provide our food and bring so much to our society.

Big tech's behaviour has been akin to big tobacco, introducing an addictive and harmful product whilst avoiding regulation. We’ve got to give our children their childhood back, and that starts with a social media ban for under-16s.

In times of greatest peril our country has been capable of doing big things. We still can. Britain used to punch above its weight in the world. We still can. Each generation used to provide a better future for the next. We still can.

The future of this country will not be built by setting neighbour against neighbour. It will be built by renewing the bonds between us.

The greatest tragedy of Britain today is that the next generation face worse prospects than the last. This is our generational challenge. To make sure that no one is left behind and no one is held back.
