Some snippets from my speech in Parliament on Pride Month. If the current environment for LGBTQ+ people teaches us one thing, it is that progress if precious and rights for any of us can, if not defended fully, be rolled back. It is our job in this place to prevent this.

The news that Jane Adetoro, Christina Walter and Becky Walter were three sisters visiting Brighton is truly heartbreaking and, along with so many residents, my thoughts are with their father Joseph today. Police are asking again for any information to help everyone learn more about this tragedy.

It’s the 40th year of the incredible Children’s Parade that kicks off our Festival. If you’re for boundless creativity from thousands of children, #Brighton is for you!

Wonderful to be out in Hackney helping to make HISTORY with Zoë Garbett, who could be our first Green elected Mayor (!) BUT she and all the council candidates need your help on the doorsteps to make sure we listen to everyone in the borough by voting day. Just 12 sleeps left until 7 May!

The Prime Minister knew of Mandelson's friendship with Epstein but chose to appoint him anyway. As @elliechowns.bsky.social said yesterday: "What is unforgiveable is that he was more concerned with pandering to Donald Trump than with standing with the victims and survivors." He must resign.

74 28

A month on and the Prime Minister is fighting for his survival on a technicality. But the serious moral failure of appointing Mandelson - despite all that was known back then - was already a resigning issue.

Keir Starmer told us he would be the Prime Minister who restored trust in politics, not the one to leave ministerial ethics in tatters. No more buck passing and scapegoating, If the Prime Minister has any integrity at all, he must go.

This week I’ve been challenging the Govt’s sinister attempts to abolish the right to choose a jury trial. Here is the Minister confirming that the right to elect a jury trial IS being completely abolished with this Bill! A fundamental cornerstone of our justice system established in 1670: gone.

Wonderful day on the streets with so many Greens standing up against hate and division. 💚 #togetheralliance

Step-free access is a necessity that enables participation in work, education, healthcare and social life. I am not filled with confidence the govt is committed to the funding needed, with the urgency needed. There are huge opportunities for govt to reform our railways. It needs to take them!

Today I asked Ministers to reconsider suspending visas for students from Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar and Sudan, including for the prestigious Chevening scheme. An extremely poor response to an extremely important question.

95 26

Digital ID, restriction of jury trials, expansion of live facial recognition, extreme crackdowns on asylum seekers. Labour is building a toolkit for tyrants and gifting future governments the means to run an authoritarian state. Greens will continue to stand up against these sinister proposals.

95 35

Yesterday I pushed Ministers again to include Ella's Law in the upcoming King's Speech. With a proper plan like this, everyone in the UK could be breathing clean air. The cost to our lives and the health of our children of letting this vital Bill sit on the shelf is simply too high. #EllasLaw

Today I asked ministers to deny* that the number of jury acquittals in protest cases was a factor in the Government’s dangerous attack on jury trials. *They did not do this

The Chancellor had a lot to say to me about Greens today, but still could not admit that Labour is leaving over 200,000 children to suffer by keeping the overall benefit cap in place.

☀️Sunshine really is the best disinfectant. For too long royal FOI exemptions have allowed royal power to act in the shadows, and conceal important truths from MPs, the press, and the public. They must be removed to tackle this systemic corruption.

74 34

Why should communication involving the royals be exempt from Freedom of Information requests? It really is one rule for the rich and powerful, and one rule for the rest of us. I intend to work with other MPs to close this outrageous royal transparency loophole.

The Govt should have scrapped the two child benefit cap 19 months ago, but failed to do so. It could have listened to families enduring the overall benefit who will see no benefit because of it, but failed to do so. It could have helped every child in poverty, but failed to do so.

124 37

As I said on R4 at the weekend... Labour Together's hiring of a PR firm to smear journalists is sinister and chilling. It speaks of the utter moral corruption of this Labour project.

If you’re for LGBT+ History, Brighton is for you! Amazing to be shown around the Gender Stories exhibition at Brighton Museum - on until 12 April - see it while you can! brightonmuseums.org.uk/event/gender...

A government enthralled to men and corporations drunk on power is the rot at the centre of the Mandelson scandal. Of all seven of the Nolan principles, openness can help build back the most trust. Every MP, like me, should release logs of all lobbying meetings.

We need a UK Digital Sovereignty Strategy! Our over-reliance on foreign tech giants is a huge risk to our security and resilience when faced with Donald Trump’s ever increasing belligerence. Companies like Palantir have no place in our critical digital infrastructure.

I have put down an amendment to this narrow Bill, that would require the Government to show how many families are blocked from receiving the support they would otherwise be entitled to if the overall cap did not exist. Will the Government act? 👇 publications.parliament.uk/pa/bills/cbi...

44 10

Scrapping the two child limit is not enough. The overall benefit cap must go too. The Government's own assessment shows at least 200,000 children in poverty will not be helped if only the two-child limit is removed. This cruel legacy of austerity must finally end.

204 57

The incarceration of people for months and years without trial for offences that are in essence political has no place in a democracy like ours. And in case it needed saying Greens oppose BOTH the increasing criminalisation of protest AND the removal of jury trials!

124 48

Grateful for the cross-party debate on dangerous proposals from Govt to scrap jury trials. Did my best to encourage Conservatives in the debate to own up to their role in creating the dire mess our courts are in, but got a very poor response.

Have you seen the Santa Bus yet? 🧑‍🎄🚍 A huge thanks to @brightonhovebuses.bsky.social team and volunteers for creating this magic every year. 🎥 having the best time ever last year! 2025 route: buses.co.uk/santa-bus-trac…

Greens welcome #GreatBritishRailways but what about rolling stock? ROSCOs paid £275m in dividends to shareholders last year - a huge drain on public finances! I urge the Government to find ways to bring our rolling stock into public hands.

118 37

Thank you to the over 5,000 people in Brighton Pavilion who signed the petition opposing mandatory digital ID. The debate was packed out! I will continue to speak out against these dangerous proposals.

139 37

The Justice Secretary is not considering: Jury trials guard against tyranny for offences against the state or corporations. Risk of politicising decisions leading to attacks on women and minoritised judges.

103 36

Today I asked the Government why it is creating an authoritarian toolkit 👇

220 58

Tonight I spoke on the need for climate, nature and air pollution duties in the Government’s Devolution Bill.

94 22

Ella's Law, which would make breathing #cleanair a human right, will not likely have its second reading next week. Yesterday I asked if the Government will make more time in Parliament for this vital Bill to be debated and made law.

The BBC needs defending - from outside forces like President Trump and his propaganda values, and from current and future political appointments to its Board within. I raised these huge risks to our national asset with the Culture Secretary this week:

This Government is threatening to blow our carbon budget just to fuel Heathrow’s greedy business model. Instead it should be listening to the people who want their bills cut, their water in public hands, and their homes made safe and warm.
