Leave it to our LA Port Police to come up with an even better use of potato chips! I’ve never had them in potato salad— but now it just makes sense. Double potato. Boom.

The Coast Guard’s dish was a little spicy for my liking, but the Army has delivered a pretty strong contender. I mean, potato chips on a hot dog? Can’t go wrong.

Santa Rosa Island’s deer population was wiped out in 2011—and now we are seeing the consequences. Grazing animals like goats & deer are critical for wildfire management. I am calling on the Catalina Island Conservancy to reconsider its plan to eliminate the island’s deer population.

We cannot afford to be complacent when it comes to preventing gun violence. This Gun Violence Awareness Month, I hope we can let our residents know about not only the steps LA County is taking, but also the steps our residents themselves can take to protect their families.

We are facing trying times— and the County Day of Prayer this Thursday, May 7, is an invitation for people across LA County to pause, reflect, and pray in any way they choose for whatever is on their hearts that could make our communities, our County, and our nation better.

April is National Deaf History Month— and today we made history with Deacon David Rose from Holy Angels Catholic Church in Vernon, who became the first deaf person to ever lead our invocation in ASL. Thank you, Deacon David, for joining us and for your service to the deaf community.
