What’s deep water solo? Free solo is a type of climbing with no safety ropes. Deep water solo, also called Psycho Bloc, is free soloing over water. That way, falling hurts a little less! In Cairn’s free upcoming summer DLC, On The Trail, you can try it for yourself!

You can tell how good your hold on the rock wall is by listening! Secure holds sound deeper and less slappy than poor holds. Can you tell the difference?

Did you know you can turn off hunger, thirst, and cold in Cairn? If you want to focus on the climbing and the adventure up the mountain, ticking the No Survival option will now refill and disable your survival gauges!

Personal space, Climbot! Cairn’s QOL update gave Climbot a better idea of your bubble, meaning he will stay farther away from your climbing spot, even in Free Solo mode!

Stunning leaks reveal new climber in Cairn

Cairn Quality of Life update is here! We have listened to your feedback, added new features, tweaked some accessibility options, and fixed many bugs. Kami’s the most climbable it’s ever been!

Be careful when you place a piton! Don’t wait too long! If you’re already too tired, you might not drill it into the wall in time. Shake out your limbs for a few extra seconds, or better yet, rest on a ledge while you hammer in your lifeline!

You can climb anywhere in Cairn! This entire mountain is your playground to explore and experiment on. No yellow paint to tell you where to go, just your best judgement and the experience you gain challenging Mt. Kami!

Backpack full again? Be sure to cook in your tent to make powerful buffs! It will usually take up less space. You can also just eat the food and power your way up the mountain with a boost!

Exploring Kami is a reward in itself. Where are your favorite scenic locations in Cairn? (We’re working on the travel brochures😉)

Stuck on a wall with no pitons and no stamina? Don’t give up yet! Rest in a stable position, (no shaking legs, no heavy breathing), and you can regain a little energy! Enough to get you to the top!

Having trouble on a wall? CHALK UP! It’ll improve your grip so you can conquer that crux!

Facing off with Mt. Kami feels like battling a giant. Our award winning sound design team (Limbo, Inside, Cocoon) made it sound just as intimidating. When you look up at the unconquered walls you can literally hear the mountain’s power.

To capture the passion of climbers, one of Aava’s VA Camille Constantin ACTUALLY did pull ups to create effort noises! That’s dedication! The sound of strain lets ya know when your stamina is low in our climbing game Cairn.

Look for the best holds! You can tell by the sound of the grab and by your hand grip if your position is solid. If you want a little more training, you can turn on Holds Feedback in the accessibility settings!

Climb in the day, Climb at night, all you need’s a little light!

Mastering climbing in Cairn, you’ll learn to gauge stamina from shaking legs and short breaths. A lot of work happens behind the scenes to make climbing feel satisfying. Each limb has its own grip, stamina, and pressure, all to make things feel intuitive, like irl climbing!

Climbing on rough holds tears up your hands! Avoid smearing on flat walls when you can and always keep your fingers bandaged with climbing tape.

About to start climbing a new project in Cairn? Scope the wall first to make sure you have enough foot+hand holds. And that your route doesn’t dead end!

Check out that Bivouac! A bivouac is where you camp while climbing or mountaineering! In our alpinism game Cairn, in your bivouac you can cook, tape your hands, repair pitons, or rest (and save!) It is wise to use each bivy you find! Who knows when you will find the next spot to set up camp…
