45 seconds of me playing a raspy whistle this evening at the allotment 🫨 Someone was having an argument on their phone in the small park behind, and by the time they were done the whistle was sounding bad. I thought this was pretty impressive for full-zoom on my phone, sitting in the exact same spot as from where I took the photo. Small "flatties" (juvenile flatfish) are its main prey here, I think.

It froze when it came close to the bank, having spotted me, I reckon. Somebody hasn't told them that this tactic doesn't work when you're bright orange! 😁

I enjoyed watching this koi feeding on the algae on the bottom of the large pond at the allotments this evening. I found myself having to lie down on the grass path after 20 mins at the allotment this afternoon. I really am unfit! 😔 On the positive side I was rewarded by noticing how these sycamore seeds, caught in the net roof of a neighbour's fruit cage, would dance in the breeze 😍 #allotmentgardening
