Cory Doctorow on Radio 4 explaining to the UK government an AI growth strategy was peak. It wouldn't work, of course, but it's a good speech. "instead of consuming the last drops of water in the United Kingdom that are not polluted by human faeces to cool a data centre to make child pornography".

Before, setting up tunnels for local dev with @cloudflare.social meant running cloudflared and jumping through hoops. Today: no more hoops! Tunnels are built into your local dev server, and you can configure your own static addresses in one line of configuration. 🥳 2 demos in 2 mins

The apology.

Here are the clips. It's so embarrassing, especially the part where he mealy mouths a half-apology in the next post. More journalists should be calling this kind of behaviour out. I don't care if you're friendly, it's unacceptable.

We're launching Cloudflare Local Explorer, and a new initiative to build a comprehensive `cf` CLI for the whole of @cloudflare.social. Local explorer gives you the ability to inspect and edit your local resources when building apps on Cloudflare...

I'm not mad. Stop saying I'm mad. (First run. Did not count as a victory.)

This is horrendous. I mean who on earth programmed the header so that it glitched every half second. (Also some of the worst responsive design I've ever seen).

If you cycle in London you've probably watched a Lime bike blow through a red light inches from a pedestrian. I think Lime's per-minute pricing is partly to blame: every second costs money, so riders race the clock. So I've made a route planner to see how the costs stack up.

New from wrangler, no more complaints for missing IDs in your config file. 🆕 Now we generate D1, KV, and R2 resources automatically for you when you don't specify them on deployment. All kudos to @penalosa.link who was working on this well before I joined.

The moment I honest-to-god thought my friends had left me behind in PEAK in our <1hr speedrun attempt (you can also hear the start of my friend's reaction after he realises we went 53s over).

Grab in SEA is a super app like Uber with transport and food delivery. One of their challenges is food drivers spending a lot of time in malls finding restaurants. So they made a huge effort to map malls, complete with multi level directions. The result is great. grabmaps.grab.com/null/resourc...

And with a larger gap this changes again into something more usefully relative.

Hate this story, but love this smart animation to relative time on the Washington Post. So clever to server render the immutable timestamp and then cutely animate the more readable replacement. 🥰

I think I'm still here for that(?). It's stuff like this where just linking together some database logic and some shadcn components would probably take me half a day or more, but I can prompt my way through it in an hour or two. And at the end I've got a working implementation to adjust.
