Today, I joined my colleagues on the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party to remember the Tiananmen Square Massacre and honor the students, workers, and everyday civilians who courageously stood up to demand democracy, freedom, and the right to be heard.

Trump thinks he's helping farmers by lowering tariffs on agriculture equipment from 25% to 15%. I introduced the Tariff Free Farming Act to make that number 0%. Yes, 0%. Let's get rid of ALL the tariffs.

Donald Trump said he doesn’t think much about Americans’ finances. While he wages a war of choice in Iran, pushes a billion-dollar slush fund for his buddies, and fights for a royal ballroom in the White House, families in Hawaiʻi are being forced to make impossible choices.

I led the House in a moment of silence honoring the life and service of Colleen Hanabusa, a proud daughter of Waiʻanae, a tita at heart, and a former member of this House.

Mahalo to Joey Cadiz from Laulau Solutions and to our farmers in Kahuku and Lāʻie for walking us through the devastation left by the Kona Low storms, from lost crops and equipment to fields still flooded & loʻi needing restoration.

Mahalo to the hardworking team at Kauaʻi Coffee for having me back as they continue navigating uncertainty around lease negotiations, tariffs, and the future of Hawaiʻi-grown coffee.

Mahalo to folks at Ka Paʻalana Māʻili and Tūtū and Me Hānapepe for welcoming me. It was truly meaningful to spend time with the parents, caregivers, educators, staff, and keiki who make these early learning sites so special. Every dollar invested in our keiki is an investment in our future.

Grateful to community leaders like Uncle Chevy for taking me around Pa’akea Road so we could see first hand where the hardest hit areas were and the debris and flooding that remain months after the Kona lows.

6 2

Mahalo to the students of Waiʻanae High School for taking me through their new health learning lab, the first of its kind in a Hawaiʻi public school. Inspiring to see them demonstrate their skills and talk about their plans to pursue careers in the ER, pediatrics, radiology, pharmacy and more!

I asked Secretary Hegseth a simple question: if President Trump ordered him to send troops to polling places in violation of federal law, would he follow the President or the Constitution? He didn’t answer.

Today, I took to the Floor to honor my late friend Doug LaMalfa and urge passage of The Doug LaMalfa Federal Disaster Tax Relief Certainty Act.

Native Hawaiian voices cannot be an afterthought in decisions about ceded lands, public trust lands, and the future of Pōhakuloa.

Special mahalo to Sheri Daniels of Papa Ola Lōkahi for making her way out to DC to speak with our CAPAC ʻohana about the growing threats to Native Hawaiian trust responsibilities, entitlements, and programs, and why this moment calls for all of us to stay engaged, informed, and ready.

Forty months from PTA's lease expiration, the Army still has not made a public offer about extending the lease. No dollar amount. No lease terms. No transparent negotiation. Instead, the Army is talking about condemnation.

Hawaiʻi’s farmers have been hit hard by the Kona lows. I’ve seen flooded fields, lost crops, damaged roads, ruined equipment, and families asking the same question: can we recover?

11 7

Proud to stand w/ community advocates from the ACLU of Hawaiʻi, ACLU Student Club at the University of Hawaiʻi, & Indivisible Hawaiʻi Statewide Network in support of survivors and to send a clear message: those who trafficked, abused, and exploited women and children must be held accountable.

The Community Assistance Center at Waialua District Park Gymnasium is here to support our North Shore community as families recover from the Kona Low storms. My team will be there every Tuesday from 10am to 11am to assist with passport replacements, federal agency issues, and more.

We saw aloha in action in the aftermath of the Kona Lows: neighbors stepping up for neighbors, no one waiting to be asked. That is who we are. Now we must match that same spirit with action.

For our ʻohana and communities impacted by flooding—please know you’re not alone. My office has gathered resources to help with immediate safety, recovery, and financial assistance for families, small businesses, and those navigating next steps after the storm.

Aloha everyone. With severe weather moving in, please take a moment to prepare in case you need to evacuate. Pack essentials like IDs, medications, chargers, food, water, and pet supplies in an easy-to-grab bag so you can leave quickly if needed. Please stay safe and look out for one another.

Grateful for the chance to talk story with students from the University of Hawaiʻi West Oʻahu and Leeward Community College during a shadow hearing.

Thrilled to announce the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for the Second Congressional District of Hawaiʻi! This year's theme is "Reflections of Hawaiʻi." We invite students to take time and reflect on the past, present, and future of Hawaiʻi—whatever that may mean to you. Mahalo!

From poisoned drinking water to the long history of land taken after the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom, communities across our islands have real reasons to demand accountability from the military.

I offered my bill, the Tariff Free Farming Act to eliminate tariffs on agricultural supplies, as an amendment in the Farm Bill. In 2025, Trump's tariffs costs farmers more than $8 billion. That's an $8 billion tax on on the people who grow the food, fuel, and fiber this country runs on.

6 4

The Farm Bill has always represented a promise: that America will stand behind those who grow our food and those who need help putting it on the table. Unfortunately, the bill being considered fails to meet this moment.

11 5

Ready with my provisions to get through Farm Bill Markup Day 2! For the record—this is a communal, bipartisan pineapple! 🍍

6 1

Farm Bill markup is officially underway. I’ve heard directly from our farmers and our families in every county, and I know what matters to them. Our farmers are struggling to stay afloat. Families are going hungry. Kids don’t have reliable access to food.

Happy to speak at the Pacific International Center for High Technology Research about the importance of fostering strong, lasting partnerships with other nations.

My message after tonight’s State of the Union address.

On this Day of Remembrance, we honor the Japanese who were imprisoned during World War II. My jiji was one of the many who were stripped of dignity and freedom just because of who he was, while his son joined the military in service to a country that viewed him as the enemy.

Had a wonderful time celebrating Lunar New Year with our APAICS and @capac.house.gov ʻohana. There is something special about reconnecting with friends and coming together to honor the generations of courage and resilience that brought us here.

As America approaches its 250th, we have a choice to make — will we be real patriots and fight to ensure that ALL our collective stories, from slavery, to the internment of the Japanese during WWII, to the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian kingdom, will remain a part of our country's history?

13 5

Glad to express my strong support of UNAC/UHCP healthcare workers and stand shoulder to shoulder with those who provide lifesaving care to the members of our community. After months of negotiations, it's time to respect the hands that care for us and give them the dignity and aloha they deserve.

On my 3rd visit to the Federal Detention Center in Honolulu, I spoke with correctional staff and personnel before spending several hours with nearly two dozen detainees to hear directly about their experiences and needs, including access to attorneys and interpreters or simply having someone listen.

The killings of Renee Good & Alex Pretti are devastating tragedies and absolutely indefensible. We cannot let this spiral into more bloodshed. We need fair, thorough, unbiased investigations with local & state law enforcement fully involved. The truth must come out & people must be held accountable.

In Hawaiʻi, a small loaf of bread now costs $8. Families are struggling just to put food on the table. 🧵
