The media often portrays road planning as a zero-sum "culture war": motorists vs. cyclists, or drivers vs. pedestrians. But that narrative misses the point entirely. Everyone benefits from a road that is safer, slower, and better managed,especially when it runs right past schools and neighborhoods

Instead of coming together to build a safer, more sustainable street, we became trapped in a classic "culture war" debate. Despite clear demand for slower, safer junctions, political division and heated rhetoric stalled progress entirely. While adults argued, our children paid the price.
