Yesterday evening, predators shot a 26-year-old man in a #playground here in #Baltimore's Upton neighborhood and also shot an 11-year-old boy. Both man and boy remain alive in the hospital. Our playgrounds aren't #safe. #GunViolence is a #PublicHealth emergency.

"Just get a #job!" people say. But since January of 2025, more and more companies of all kinds are massively #LayingOff employees. At the same time, the federal government has defunded social services and added work requirements despite jobs being hard to find.

The federal government defunded #SNAP benefits with new draconian work requirements in November and the effects have deeply harmed our youth and families. Horrible corporate #layoffs to boost #AI make finding work even more difficult. Our community is in crisis.

This is a direct threat to the #peace and #wellness of ordinary residents (especial low-to-middle income folks like us!) across the #US. No elected officials should EVER sign #NDAs to protect #BigTech's mercenary, greedy, polluting, expensive, UNNECESSARY #AI #DataCenters!

If we do it consistently and well, #kindness creates a ripple effect of #goodness like healing flowers in bloom.

This week, #Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger signed a law that ends tax breaks for Confederate groups. This is an important step in ending the glorification of #WhiteSupremacy cloaked in the guise of “honoring” history. We must move forward to a better, #equitable future for all our citizens.

Let's start the week with #ShaCarriRichardson's amazing win in the #Australian Stawell Gift Race where the fastest #runners must start far behind with no advantages. Despite this she won, demonstrating the predicament of so many Black people who must win despite disadvantages.
