Yesterday, California took a stand. The State Senate passed AJR5, a resolution reaffirming California’s commitment to #birthrightcitizenship — the promise that anyone born here is a U.S. citizen.

San Francisco is a proud city of immigrants, and the city must deliver on its promise of safety and freedom for all! Proposed legislation of "ICE free zones" would prevent federal law enforcement agencies (like ICE) from using city-owned properties for immigration enforcement.

CAA is proud to honor Allan E. Low—dubbed the “pro bono hero of San Francisco Chinatown”—for decades of tireless legal work defending immigrant communities, protecting low-income tenants, and shaping nearly every major development in Chinatown with equity at the center.

ICE continues to terrorize immigrant communities this week forcing Immigration Judges in SF to shut down their courtrooms for safety reasons. ICE presence means people have to make the difficult decision between attending their court hearings and face arrest or abandon their court cases.

Community advocacy works! Together, with the Language Access Network, we made it known that language access saves lives, and were able to delay potentially harmful revisions to SFPD's DGOs. We're looking forward to working together to create language access policies that we can all feel proud of!

The Trump administration has weaponized international students in its efforts to censor free speech, undermine universities, and instill fear in immigrant communities—without regard for the catastrophic long-term consequences for the United States.

Attempts to bar Asian immigrants from owning land are littered throughout American history. Today, history repeats itself. States like FL and TX have spearheaded a wave of legislation restricting property ownership by certain immigrants, including Chinese.

This Immigrant Day of Action, CAA went up to the State Capitol in Sacramento to advocate for: 🎙️ language access in remote court hearings ❤️‍🩹 resources for survivors of anti-Asian hate ✊ AB 1242: addressing systemic disparity for individuals with limited English proficiency
