Meet Mukta and her brother Al-Amin 💜🧡 Hear about her experiences as an unpaid carer and how finding support and connection through our Carers Project with Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) and her Carers Group specifically, has made a difference in her life.

We're thrilled & so grateful that Jo Whiley will be presenting our BBC #R4Appeal, sharing Mukta's story.​ Mukta is from Bangladesh & has cared for her brother Al-Amin who has spina bifida, since she was a child. Jo, who is also a #SiblingCarer to her sister Frances, can relate to Mukta’s story.

In many rural communities in Bangladesh, awareness & understanding of Mental health conditions remain extremely low. To help change this, we recently visited the northern district of Dinajpur, Bangladesh, to make a short film with our local partner, Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) 💜🧡

We are so proud to be supporting #UnpaidCarers in #Bangladesh again this #Ramadan 💜🧡 Yesterday, through our Ramadan project, 500 carers and those they care for gathered to receive their #Iftar food parcels and to pray together, before returning home to break their fast with their families.

For four years, our Ramadan project has brought together #UnpaidCarers in Savar, #Bangladesh to celebrate #Ramadan with dignity 💜🧡 This year, while the project has moved to support carers in Dinajpur, something special is happening in Savar 😊👇🏽 #Community #Inclusion #CarersWorldwide #CommitToCarers

We got the team together for our annual away day 💜🧡 As we all work from home, we enjoy these opportunities to meet in person. We looked back on 2025 & forward to 2027 & beyond. Everything we discussed came to one thing: improving support for #UnpaidCarers in LMICs. A little glimpse of the day 👇🏽

Today is #TimeToTalkDay! Many #UnpaidCarers play a vital role in their families, often without any support or recognition. That was true for Alagu. At 40, she cares for her father-in-law, who has lived with mental illness for 20 years, while also managing her household & her children’s education.

Across countries & cultures, unpaid carers describe the same reality: care becomes a constant part of daily life often w/ little guidance or support. These shared experiences were discussed on the #CareFullyConsidered podcast by @wecarecampaign.bsky.social featuring our Dev. Director Ruth Patil 💜🧡
