🌷I was so pleased to visit Lorraine & the team at Melfort Park Community Garden in Drumry to congratulate them on securing over £28,000 UK Government Pride in Place Impact Funding! This will help make the garden more accessible & inclusive for all the local community to enjoy.

West Dunbartonshire is 1 of only 10 areas in Scotland receiving a brand new Youth Hub funded by UK Government to support to our young people looking for employment or training, and tackle youth unemployment. I'm looking forward attending the opening of our Youth Hub this month!

At the debate on the Glasgow City Region's economy, I advocated for greater investment in West Dunbartonshire, highlighting the incredible potential we have here in the former Exxon site in Bowling & former Carless site in Old Kilpatrick which could provide well-paid, local jobs.

🧡Delighted to join Pastor Oli at the Phoenix Centre in Dumbarton to celebrate their successful application for £54,900 UK Government Pride in Place Impact Funding! The Phoenix does incredible work for the local community & this funding will help go towards repairing their roof.

It is with great sadness that I learned of the sad passing of Tony Worthington, MP for Clydebank and Milngavie from 1987 to 2005. Tony was a great man and will be remembered not least for his work to secure compensation for the victims and families of asbestos related illness.

I highlighted how young people in my West Dunbartonshire constituency are eager for apprenticeships in the primes, asking industry executives what barriers there are to matching supply with this demand, emphasising the need for long term contracts to provide good, well-paid jobs.

I continued to press the Foreign Secretary on securing the release of my constituent from Dumbarton, #JagtarSinghJohal, from arbitrary detention in India. I requested her reassurance that she remains committed to raising Jagtar's case at all levels and opportunities. #FreeJaggiNow

The UK Labour Government is improving children's lives across the UK, including lifting 2,260 in West Dunbartonshire out of poverty. We need a Scottish Labour Government more interested in an education recovery programme rather than the same gimmicks & more SNP broken promises.

Securing Pride in Place funding for my hometown of West Dunbartonshire has been the highlight of my time as MP so far. The UK Labour Government is investing in communities like ours, regenerating our towns that were left behind by previous governments.

The SNP created the housing crisis in Scotland. 2 decades of failure. The housing emergency is on their watch. Scottish Labour have pledged 125,000 new homes to tackle the housing needs of young people.

After Rory McIlroy's historic back to back Masters win at the weekend, I requested a debate on the future of golf in the UK to discuss how we can ensure our courses, clubs & community facilities like Dalmuir Golf Course are secure to allow the next generation of talent to shine.

At yesterday's Westminster Hall debate on the Access to Work scheme, I raised the case of one of my constituents, requesting that the Minister ensures agreed adjustments are followed, communications are improved and priority cases are genuinely prioritised.

At today's Scottish Affairs Committee meeting on GB energy & the net zero transition, I asked when my constituents of West Dunbartonshire & people across Scotland will see the benefit of UK Labour Government investment in energy infrastructure materialise into lower energy bills.

Many of my West Dunbartonshire constituents have shared with me their experiences of living with EDS, with delayed or overlooked diagnoses leading to unnecessary pain & distress. Earlier diagnoses and increased awareness are needed to improve the lives of those living with EDS.

The SNP can’t get the basics right. Today I highlighted the sorry state of Scotland’s roads. The SNP continue to starve our local councils of funding. Scottish Labour will establish a £350million Roads Repair Fund to fix the potholes.

I welcomed the announcement that a new Youth Hub is coming to West Dunbartonshire! I look forward to working to secure the site for this Hub funded by UK Labour Government that will provide employment support to our young people - restoring opportunities for the next generation.

Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park Destination Group expressed their concerns to me regarding West Dunbartonshire Council's proposed visitor levy. I argued visitor levies should be invested in to local tourism economies, rather than to fill a hole in local councils' budgets.

At Northern Ireland Questions, I highlighted the record investment the Executive has recently received in Barnett Consequentials from our UK Labour Government, calling on the Executive to produce a balanced, multi-year budget that will deliver for the people of Northern Ireland.

❤️⚽️Today at Business Questions, I congratulated @clydebankfc.bsky.social on being officially awarded SFA Bronze Licence status, following their receipt of £240,000 Pride in Place Funding from the UK Labour Government, allowing the Bankies to upgrade Holm Park and reach their new status!

@sascampaigns.bsky.social investigation revealed 204,000+ hours of illegal sewage spills occurred in English waters last year, with Scottish Water only monitoring 30% of overflows in Scotland. I asked the UK Government to take tougher action to ensure water companies are held to account.

At yesterday’s Scottish Affairs Committee meeting, I asked how Scottish Colleges can be expected to meet the demands of industry when they’ve received a 20% reduction in funding from Scottish Government in the last 5 years, with a 27% reduction in staff, the lowest staff count ever.

I am determined to ensure our young people in West Dunbartonshire don’t miss out on the career opportunities from UK Government investment in Defence Technical Excellence College Funding. I will always fight our corner and ensure West College Scotland is included in these plans.

West Dunbartonshire is among the UK’s worst hotspots for asbestos-related cancer deaths from exposure at work, with 340+ deaths since 1980. I led a debate last night on asbestos-related cancer, calling for reform of the 2006 Compensation Act to include non-mesothelioma cases.

Today I welcomed the UK Government's recent announcement of £50million for defence growth in Scotland, with plans to build defence technical colleges in the West & East. This will create good, well-paid jobs for my West Dunbartonshire constituents and for people across Scotland.

Tomorrow marks the 85th anniversary of the Clydebank Blitz, where our town suffered horrendous loss - 528 people killed, only 8 of 12,000 homes left undamaged. I highlighted this today in the House, and how we must continue to commemorate those who lost their lives in the Blitz.

🥃The Scotch Whisky industry supports thousands of local jobs in West Dunbartonshire. I highlighted how the Scotch Whisky Association has described the import tariff cuts following the UK Labour Government's trade deal with India as 'transformational' - a massive win for Scotland's economy.

At last night's Westminster Hall debate on type 1 diabetes testing for children, I spoke about the need for early testing to prevent emergency diagnoses, commending the work of Diabetes Scotland in their efforts to improve diabetes testing & screening in Scotland.

West College Scotland Clydebank continues to face relentless cuts from the SNP Scottish Government, impacting local students' further study options. I asked how we can work with Government colleagues to ensure Scottish colleges once again become engines of growth & opportunity.
