Let’s talk about this moment from Percy Jackson Season 2 Episode 5. This isn’t a slight against Percy and Annabeth shippers, I am one of you. But I wanted to talk about why this declaration, that in context comes from a place of guilt and fear, is being read by a lot of people as romantic.

All this aside, I wanted to point out something really important that Kaeiln did in her video that we need more people doing right now. She documented how she used the internet to answer a question. The sites she visited and found a journalists doing this work. All without any use of AI.

It’s also a very popular trope in Romance. I’m pretty sure “I’d burn the world for you” or something like it is an actual quote from a Romantasy series. It certainly embodies the esthetics of a lot of love interests in many Romance novels, especially ones with Darker themes.

To little things like how they both chew of stuff while reading each others texts. And so much more. While I do plan to read the book after season 1 of the show wraps up, I’m holding off because I really appreciate the amazing storytelling the show is doing.

What I find frustrating about fandom on social media, isn’t children or newcomers. It’s the people who have been in fandom for years who complain about how much it’s changed and how social media ruined it, while exhibiting the exact behavior they complain about.

And the cinematography is doing a shit ton is storytelling showing how much Shane and Ilya have in common in by showing them each in almost identical shots, both of them losing a game to the other and both of them being check out while their parents talk to other people about them.
