🏘️ East Calder keeps growing. So why are local families still waiting for the medical centre they've been promised by the SNP for years? With more homes approved in Calderwood and no sign of construction on the health centre starting, residents are understandably becoming increasingly frustrated.

From one successful butcher's shop to a farm shop, and soon a sports bar too... Dewar Family Butchers continue to go from strength to strength, and it was a pleasure to officially open their new premises in East Calder.

Inflation is down again to 2.8% - welcome progress for families in the Livingston constituency still feeling the pressures of the cost of living crisis.

Out speaking with residents in East Calder during another of my regular street surgeries. Once again, the East Calder Medical Centre came up repeatedly. 1/6

Good progress is being made on the £20 million Pride in Place investment programme for Fauldhouse, Whitburn and Blackburn. The appointment of Eric Lumsden as independent chair of the Neighbourhood Board is an important step forward. 1/3

Final eve of poll rally in Glasgow this morning with Anas Sarwar and a clear message that Scotland is ready for change.

Out in Fauldhouse last night with Jordan Stokoe, Labour’s candidate for Almond Valley on Thursday. Residents are fed up with illegal trail bikes and quad bikes causing chaos in communities across Fauldhouse and the wider Livingston constituency.

Two days to go. Out in Broxburn today with Jenny Young for Bathgate, speaking to voters who are ready for change after 19 years of rising waiting lists, falling school attainment and a government not focused on the basics.

Less than 48 hours until polls open at 7am on Thursday. I’ve been out in Murieston with Jordan Stokoe, our brilliant candidate and the message from people couldn’t be clearer.

Out in Kirknewton with Jordan Stokoe for Almond Valley and the message on the doorstep is clear, people want change. No matter how they’ve voted before, voters here know only Scottish Labour can beat the SNP in Almond Valley.

In Mid Calder with Jordan Stokoe and the team and the big issue that keeps coming up here is the NHS. People are fed up of broken SNP promises, especially on the East Calder Medical Centre that still hasn’t been delivered.

Out in Howden with Jordan Stokoe for the Almond Valley, speaking to local residents. The message was clear, people feel like things just aren’t working as they should. ➡️ NHS waiting lists going up ➡️ Standards in schools slipping ➡️ Police tied up behind desks instead of out in our communities

On the doors in Dedridge this with Jordan Stokoe and one issue kept coming up again and again: the NHS. People told me the same thing. The staff are brilliant. The care, when you get it, is excellent. But the system just isn’t working. Too many stuck on waiting lists. Too many waiting too long.

We talk a lot about decisions that affect young people, but not always with them. And yet the issues being debated right now couldn’t be more relevant to their lives. Climate change. Access to further education. Questions around smartphones in schools and social media for under-16s.

East Calder has waited long enough. ⌛ Five years on from SNP promises of “further and faster” progress, we’re now being told they’ll start planning a new health centre. People here don’t need more talk, they need delivery.

East Calder was promised a new health centre. Five years on, there’s still nothing. Freedom of Information responses to my office show that the Scottish Government and NHS Lothian has no plans, no correspondence and no delivery model in place.

A lot of people across the Livingston constituency are worried about what’s happening in the Middle East and what it could mean here at home. My focus is making sure families in West Lothian are protected and supported through this uncertainty.
