Getting the basics right came up again and again on the doors in Broxburn and Uphall. I was out on the doors again for my regular street surgery with Scottish Labour's Jenny Young for Bathgate, and the same issues kept coming up, local NHS services, schools, and the state of our roads.

East Calder was promised a new health centre. Five years on, there’s still nothing. Freedom of Information responses to my office show that the Scottish Government and NHS Lothian has no plans, no correspondence and no delivery model in place.

On the doors in Dedridge this with Jordan Stokoe and one issue kept coming up again and again: the NHS. People told me the same thing. The staff are brilliant. The care, when you get it, is excellent. But the system just isn’t working. Too many stuck on waiting lists. Too many waiting too long.

People across West Lothian deserve better than poor local transport, long NHS waiting times, and schools that aren’t delivering for every child.

Nineteen years. That’s how long the SNP have had in power and too many families are still waiting longer, paying more, and seeing less. With just 19 days to go to the Scottish Parliament elections, it comes down to one question, if the SNP were going to fix it, why haven’t they done it already?
