Scenes from outside #delaneyhall on the seventh day of a hunger strike by ICE detainees. After demonstrators refused to move into a new designated protest area, police in riot gear and on horseback attempted to disperse the crowd using flash-bangs, pepper spray and other less-lethal munitions.

Today while covering protests outside of Delaney Hall in New Jersey during day 5 of the ICE detainee hunger strike, I along with multiple members of the press were pepper sprayed by ICE/ERO agents.

Outside 26 Federal Plaza protestors have gathered after a raid snatched up street vendors on Canal.

While elected officials demanded access to the 10th floor to observe conditions where migrants are held, an ICE agent struck a photographer’s camera (Michael Nigro) and then falsely claimed the photographer hit him: “You hit me in the face with it.”

Brad Lander and ten other elected officials were arrested inside 26 Federal Plaza after demanding access to observe the 10th floor, where detainees are held. The group staged a sit-in before Federal Protective Service officers moved in with zip ties.

After leaving his immigration hearing with his sleeping daughter in his arms, a man is confronted by ICE and CBP. He passes the child to his wife in the waiting room, shares tearful goodbyes, and is then detained and escorted toward the staircase where he’ll be brought to the 10th floor.

NYC Comptroller Brad Lander and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams confronted a senior ICE agent today outside Manhattan’s immigration courts, demanding answers after several people were detained without due process.

Multiple people were detained by ICE today at 26 Federal Plaza during routine check-ins and hearings. Some cases were delayed for lack of a translator, but ICE made arrests anyway. Court observers, council members, and a state senator helped a few safely exit.

At New York City Pride, Jessica Tisch and members of the Gay Officers Action League (GOAL) held a protest in response to the ban on uniformed police participation in the Pride parade. They were greeted by Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams.

Early this morning, ICE agents staged at Gate E of Dodger Stadium. Protestors arrived to denounce their presence, though only six agents remained. LAPD told demonstrators they were on private property, then escorted ICE into the stadium.

NYPD shut down Brooklyn Botanic Garden station last night, blocking protesters trying to head home. Officers pushed them toward the tracks as a train approached and arrested a drummer. The protest followed Thursday’s violence in Crown Heights.

After the main protest dispersed a group of about one hundred marched through Central Park.
