Calling on the media to tell the truth about the climate and nature emergency

Kemi Badenoch says economic literacy is the most important thing for an MP. But if Kemi had scientific literacy like her predecessor Margaret Thatcher she would realise her climate policies mean losing everything.

Greg appeared on Today and committed moral and economic madness by saying "While we're still dependent on gas, I can't see any problem with getting more from the North Sea" before going on to admit that doing so would make near enough zero difference to gas prices.

Just the BBC’s Clive Myrie and Justin Webb rationalising an @theonion.com headline as if it were a valid viewpoint rather than satire 🤯 #Iran.

7 6

What the hell are the @theguardian.com thinking running that headline? Dangerous and deluded @dpcarrington.bsky.social. Listen to what leading scientists have to say.

16 7

The likes of Justin Webb are in thrall to fossil fuel advocates like Robert Bryce while completely ignoring scientists like Sir David King. May their children forgive them.

Human civilization will collapse and billions will die if the US still has a ravenous demand for Venezuelan oil in 30 years' time. Why didn't Webb put this very obvious point to Bryce? Four billion dead at 3C of heating by 2050 according to the Institute of Actuaries. WAKE UP!

In all our time monitoring the BBC, this may be the most extreme example of bias we've ever heard - Justin Webb on Venezuela. Under Chávez, poverty and extreme poverty were slashed, unemployment halved, illiteracy was eradicated, child mortality rates fell...

A jury took less than an hour to find a @just-stopoil.bsky.social activist not guilty for spray painting New Scotland Yard’s famous sign orange.

"The more you defer action, the more you condemn millions of people to immeasurable suffering". It was true in 2009. It's still true today - but substitute "billions" for "millions".

It was obvious what needed to happen in 2009. 16 years later and emissions are still rising. This is radical evil. Those responsible, including Obama, will surely face a reckoning.

We're living through the most depraved episode in the history of humanity, and no-one has articulated it better than Ambassador Lumumba di-Aping, speaking back in 2009 on behalf of the world's poorest countries.

Obama wrote “I imagined a parallel universe in which the United States had put its immense power and authority behind the climate change fight.” You were the president dude! Don't imagine, do it! He seems to think the Paris Agreement was about expanding fossil fuels.

Obama described jetting in to COP 15 Denmark last minute, chasing the Chinese around the conference centre, and pulling “some real gangster shit” to secure a non-binding deal to limit global heating to 2C. But 2C will be absolutely devastating for humanity and nature.

Copenhagen 2009. Humanity's last chance to avoid collapse? Obama claimed partial victory. The ambassador for 130 developing countries' responded with "the most important briefing the world never heard". Obama's deal meant "Certain death for Africa, certain devastation of island states".

Hi @evanhd.bsky.social, climate models have proven accurate or conservative when it comes to the scale of extremes we are now witnessing. So please don’t imply otherwise in your questioning.

Bill Gates cannot be trusted.

The planet is on the brink of an irreversible climate disaster, but we’ve run out of time to discuss that I’m afraid. #bbcqt @zackpolanski.bsky.social

For every 1°C increase in global temperature, the atmosphere can hold approximately 7% more moisture. We’ve known this for 175 years. Many more football games are going to be abandoned in the coming years. #itfc #brfc

In case you think we can simply import even more of our food after AMOC collapse, watch this from the late great James Lovelock. It's not AMOC collapse OR extreme heat and desertification; it's BOTH that Europe is facing.
