Republicans claim ICE is deporting “the worst of the worst.” Last week, I conducted an oversight visit to Delaney Hall and found their claim to be utterly false. The conditions at Delaney Hall are deplorable and not fit for any human to be held in, regardless of their immigration status.

This bill prioritizes highways over rail and transit infrastructure, omits guardrails to protect the funds from interference from the Trump administration, and worsens the climate emergency.

The current version of the Build America 250 bill lacks strong guardrails to ensure New Yorkers receive the investments Congress authorizes in this bill.

Republicans passed their Don't Say Trans bill that infringes on American students' First Amendment rights by censoring curricula and banning books, and could endanger children by requiring schools to out trans students in certain situations, even if doing so would put them in physical danger.

Today, House Republicans on the Judiciary Committee allowed themselves to be used as a tool to serve Donald Trump’s personal vendetta against @splcenter.org for its actions holding him and his criminal allies accountable.

Republicans are bringing a hateful, anti-trans bill to the floor that would force educators to out transgender students and prohibit the teaching of any curriculum that recognizes the existence of transgender people. This bill is disgusting and I am proud to be vehemently against it.

While ICE and CBP terrorize our cities, Republicans hosted a sham hearing to distract from the horrors unfolding at Trump’s DHS and to focus on one county in Virginia that has chosen not to join the Trump Administration’s extreme anti-immigrant agenda. @democrats-judiciary.house.gov

Last night I enjoyed meeting New Yorkers at a reception with The Congressional Musicians Caucus & The Congressional Arts Caucus. As we all know, the best art and artists hail from New York, and we’re always happy to celebrate and support these talented individuals.

FISA Section 702 must be reformed to require a probable cause warrant for intelligence agencies to search through Americans’ personal information held in the 702 database. This bill is woefully insufficient because it lacks that requirement.

Donald Trump is a convicted felon, a twice impeached president, and America’s chief insurrectionist. His name is unfit to honor our nation’s buildings.

I am honored today to lead New York elected officials and advocates demanding a transparent rebuilding process for Penn Station with strong public oversight.

For over thirty years, Congressman Engel improved the lives of New Yorkers, Americans, and people around the globe with his passion for public service. May his memory be a blessing.

Proud to stand alongside artists, elected officials, and community leaders at The People’s Filibuster at The Public Theater to demand dignity for all and protest ICE’s abhorrent actions.

Today, the House will vote on a DHS funding bill. I will not vote to give ICE a single cent to continue their brutal and reckless campaign terrorizing communities across the country. I will be voting NO.

Former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation was never about politics. It’s always been about the facts and the law. And the facts and the law show Trump tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election and he kept highly classified documents after leaving office.

Republicans are attempting to pass a bill that would deport immigrants who are accused of committing fraud—not convicted, just accused. Due process is a core value of our country and it is fundamentally un-American to deport someone who hasn't had their day in court.

Judiciary Republicans want to deport people accused of fraud. It’s a good thing Trump was born in America, or he’d be at the top of the list.

Nurses should not have to strike for decent benefits, fair wages, and dignity. I was proud to join @nynurses.bsky.social on the Mount Sinai Morningside picket line as they fight for a fair contract that protects them and the New Yorkers they care for. I stand with nurses.

I could not in good conscience vote for the GOP Continuing Resolution, which leave tens of millions of Americans facing higher costs and lost coverage. Democrats put forward a plan to extend ACA tax credits and repeal Medicaid cuts. Republicans refused to even negotiate.

36 11

On the 60th Anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid, I’m thinking of the millions of Americans whose health care is being taken away because Republicans wanted tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy.

This morning I helped lead a bipartisan hearing on bankruptcy reform, where I highlighted the devastating effects student loan debt has on Americans across the country. Congress must act to reform bankruptcy law and provide relief for our fellow Americans.

As the Dean of the New York Congressional Delegation, I proudly stood alongside my fellow New York Democrats to urge our Republican colleagues to find the courage to stand up for New Yorkers and oppose this cruel bill.

My House Republican colleagues just proposed to repeal the FACE Act, the bipartisan bill that protects people receiving or providing reproductive care from violence or obstruction to receiving that care.

Please join me next Tuesday, June 17th for a town hall with NYS Senator @lizkrueger.bsky.social at Hunter College. I look forward to sharing an update on my work in Washington and hearing about your concerns for our country and City.

The administration is disappearing people—often in the dead of night—without due process or legal recourse. They are sent to countries where they have no ties and locked in indefinite detention under brutal conditions. As one witness put it, “This is basically imprisonment without a trial.”

I told the Commission what I’ve said many times: if President Trump were serious about combating antisemitism, he would start with his own administration—including firing Kingsley Wilson, Ed Martin, and Sebastian Gorka. Instead, Trump has promoted Wilson to serve as the Pentagon’s press secretary.
