I’m at the EU-Western Balkans Summit today. Enjoying constructive discussions with other European leaders. With Ireland’s EU Presidency drawing near, EU enlargement is a key issue, in particular the progress towards accession of our hosts Montenegro.

Busy agenda at Cabinet today: ▪️ Occupied Territories Bill. ▪️ Significant progress on Waterford City and Ballymore Eustace wastewater treatment. ▪️ New proposals to broaden scholarships in higher education and research. ▪️10-year strategy for suicide and self-harm reduction.

Busy day at Cabinet: * Reducing regulatory burden on businesses * Progressing the critical infrastructure bill, accelerating delivery on significant projects such as the Great Dublin drainage * Advancing collaboration on European research programmes

Proposals are being brought to Cabinet today to help those affected by the shocking fire in Waterford. Also at Cabinet, a vital €750m investment in university research and a strategic plan to ensure a bright future for rural Ireland.

Dialogue is the only way and the only mechanism to resolve this dispute. I would appeal for people to re-engage.

My thoughts are with all those affected by the terrible fire at the former Jute factory in Waterford. We will work at a governmental level to see how we can protect jobs and support the social enterprises and disability services impacted.

I condemn the seizure of the Global Sumud Flotilla vessels by Israel in international waters. It is unacceptable Israel should uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law. We will be raising this at EU level.

A comprehensive agenda at Cabinet today. We are advancing significant support packages for transport, farmers, contractors & fishers to alleviate fuel pressures, alongside proposals for the national education convention.

A very special privilege to open the new Therapy Garden at Cork ARC Cancer Support. It is a beautiful testament to the power of community and compassion, providing an invaluable service to families across the region.

Housing remains the number one issue facing our country. Alongside unprecedented investment in public services and infrastructure, we are taking a strategic approach to the economy that the opposition does not.

The release of Census 1926 by the National Archives is a historic moment. It shows the profound ambition of the new State after a decade of upheaval, and offers us all a deeply personal opportunity to connect with our own families and communities.

The Opposition claims nothing has been done. This is manifestly untrue. We are implementing significant action, with a total package of €750 million designed to very directly help protect jobs and keep costs down.

It is unconscionable and illogical that amidst a global supply crisis, blockades are pushing Ireland to the precipice of turning away vital oil shipments to international buyers.

I resolutely condemn the appalling attempted attack on a PSNI station and the kidnapping of a delivery driver last evening. It is beyond comprehension that anyone would commit such crimes. This was a reckless act and an attack on the entire community.

Delighted to be at the Technological University of the Shannon today for the graduation of the Access to Apprenticeship programme. This programme provides crucial opportunities and new pathways for young people. Wishing all the graduates the very best in the the time ahead.

Government is very conscious of the impact volatile energy prices are having. It is a very serious situation. Our immediate priority is to try and alleviate pressures on people, on families, and doing so in a way that protects the economy and avoids adding to inflation.
