I cannot stop laughing at this

This is disgusting behaviour. I wish only bad things on this guy. Truly. What a horrific thing to do to these two fathers. Gutter scum behaviour

Things can be gloomy on here (rightfully so it reflects the state of things) so just a reminder there’s joy everywhere

I love Muscovy ducks. They’re the absolute best!

Duckling cam!

It’s been about 1.5 hours, and the little one is okay. So far I have a good feeling. It’s very strong and fought hard to get out of the egg.

Hello!

The one i was going to give until tonight died in the shell. But, hello to the one left. There’s one more egg in another incubator that I separated worrying to get this one out of its shell. There’s no good reason the other one died, prob exhaustion and the mum would have intervened earlier… sigh

Here’s the noise you can play for hatching Muscovy eggs that helps them hatch, fyi. It’s a noise specifically made by Muscovy mums, and I don’t think I’ve seen this for chickens or quails, just these ducks. I’ll have to read a bit more.

So only 2 out of the remaining 5 will seem to be hatching. Number 5 seems like it stopped developing and the other one, as I reported recently, stopped around day 20. But here’s a little duck beak for you. ☺️

If you don’t know, I hatched some coturnix quails 1.5 weeks ago. A few days later hatched some buttons. Coturnix are much larger than buttons. Anyway one of the coturnix quails broke their leg first week, so I separated them into the button quail cage as they were mostly sleeping. Welp.

This little guy is fighting to get out

Thought I saw some wobbles. I wasn’t wrong.

My little coturnix quail who hurt his leg is thriving in the hutch with the buttons. They often cuddle pile on him, and he’s no longer stress calling for his other friends.

A little button quail, not to be confused with a buttonquail which is not a quail, now a week old.

Ok here’s the same one at 17 days

Here’s the one not alive anymore. I’m leaving it in there but it’s got that cloudy thunderstorm look. And see next comment for how it looked 14 days ago.

I managed to capture this while candling because I thought I had days left. You’re not meant to handle them as they begin to hatch. I got the humidity to 65% but these incubators are really tough when it comes to humidity.
