Wannabe-dictators who want to rip off working people aren’t just a problem in the United States.  This week, I met with heads of state from across Latin America visiting the United Nations to talk about standing up for democracy and working people across the region.

Kristi Noem started the new year by firing even more FEMA employees. Noem is dismantling our country’s ability to respond to disasters. Texans have already been hurt, and her recklessness will cost more lives. I joined Representative Neguse demanding she reverse these cuts.

Here’s what the Democratic Party is fighting for in this shutdown: a country where you can afford to live, afford health care, and don't get your money taken away by a billionaire.

We just learned Kristi Noem’s “fiscal responsibility policies” are holding up $17 billion in approved disaster funds. She’s preventing roads from being repaired and bridges from being fixed. All while spending hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on ad campaigns to promote herself.

Kristi Noem deserves to be impeached for the things you know about: mass deportation policies that have gotten Americans killed. But folks aren't talking enough about what she's not doing: keeping us safe. She's gutting disaster relief agencies and putting us all at risk.

Organizing works. People showed up, made calls, drew attention to injustice , and now a judge ordered the Trump Administration to bring Any Lopez Belloza home. Now, we make sure she gets back to Texas safely. Keep organizing. Keep pushing.
