Trump’s policies are driving up the cost of living, but Secretary Scott Bessent wants us to take solace that inflation is a “blip” and we all just need to take it on the chin until we “get to the other side of this.” I would love to see a timeline on that.

My constituents, like so many other Americans, are struggling with high costs and the Republican policies adding to their pain. From tariffs to the reckless Iran war, Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress are driving up the cost of living for Americans.

POV: you ask me to label programs that help women and children as “waste, fraud and abuse” while you support payouts to Jan 6 criminals and a White House ballroom.

70 20

I will not sit by and let Republicans characterize programs for the poorest of the poor women and children as “waste, fraud and abuse” when the real waste, fraud and abuse is being perpetrated by Donald Trump giving $1.8 BILLION to January 6th insurrectionists.

Instead of making real investments in workers and families, Republicans gave billions in tax goodies to the wealthiest and big businesses and crumbs to everyone else.

It’s a privilege to fight for foster youth every day in Congress. I’m proud to advance bipartisan legislation to help youth aging out of the system secure housing and help them navigate the complexities of transitioning to adulthood.

The history of trying to disenfranchise African Americans is American history. Not only to deny us the vote, but our humanity. This will not be the end. A new day will surface. Why? Because we are undeterred.

“President Trump has sort of taken every problem on earth and got 100% at fixing it.” - Trump’s own Director of the Economic Council, a message sure to resonate with Americans struggling to afford gas, groceries, health care and housing

As Congress debates the Farm Bill this week, I’ve introduced an amendment to help restore access to SNAP for vulnerable communities harmed by the so-called “One Big, Beautiful Bill.”

My bipartisan Survivor Justice Tax Prevention Act helps ensure fair treatment of the tax law, and justice for survivors who prevail against their abusers. I can’t think of a better time to pass this than Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

The United States should not jail anyone for exercising free speech. I will continue to advocate for Mr. Sarsour’s immediate release from ICE detention.

55 17

I just visited Mr. Salah Sarsour, the president of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, in Indiana where he is being held by ICE.

I might be from Milwaukee, but Wisconsin is an agricultural state, and our farmers don’t want government bailouts. They want market access. The Trump administration’s chaotic trade policies are a gift to China; they have no industrial strategy and have hurt our agricultural industries.

The time for action on the Black Maternal Health Crisis is long overdue. Moms and babies can’t wait. It’s time to pass the #Momnibus.

45 13

Secretary Kennedy says he’s “not happy” about cuts to programs like WIC and Healthy Start. I don’t see how an agenda can be “MAHA” if it fails to invest in child nutrition.

63 17

No amount of messaging will change reality: Republicans have done nothing to bring prices down. They cut taxes for the ultra wealthy at the expense of federal health care and nutrition assistance funding, and think the American people are willing to settle for scraps.

No money for daycare. No money for Medicaid. But there’s a 40% increase in the Pentagon budget. The administration wants the Iran War to be paid for on the backs of everyday Americans.

70 23

There are not harsh enough terms I can use to condemn the Trump administration’s kidnapping of children and their treatment in ICE custody. The Republican Party is supporting inflicting long-term trauma on innocent children.

I’m so pleased the Survivor Justice Prevention Act passed unanimously in @waysmeanscmte.bsky.social today. Survivors of sexual abuse who receive related settlements shouldn’t have to pay taxes on them.

53 20

It is now the official position of the Republican Party that yes the war makes life more expensive for everyday Americans, but we don’t care and we aren’t going to do anything about it.

Donald Trump is threatening to not sign any legislation unless Congress passes Jim Crow 2.0, or as Republicans are calling it, the “SAVE Act.” Let me be clear: this is so he can disenfranchise millions of voters and steal the midterm elections.

After hearing from Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth and other administration officials at a congressional briefing on Iran, I have more questions than answers. Why is this Administration committing U.S service members to a war with no clear end goals?

43 11

The rhetoric and completely disjointed statements coming out of the GOP tells me everything I need to know about Trump’s reckless war in Iran. Lindsay Graham: “Not POTUS’s job to have a plan” Ted Cruz: “No indication Iran was close to having nuclear weapons”

This week, my constituent Kara, a nonprofit daycare owner and ACA advocate, joined me at the SOTU. Unfortunately we heard nothing about how Trump and the GOP plan to address kitchen table issues like affordable childcare and healthcare.

The real measure of any society is how it serves women and families.   So I can tell you that the state of our union is not strong when those in power put billionaires first, slash health care, SNAP and childcare funding, and protect powerful predators like the one in office.

So grateful to have the opportunity to celebrate the life and legacy of my dear friend and mentor, Reverend Jesse Jackson. Always just 90 miles south of Milwaukee, the good Reverend never shied away from making the trip to come uplift the Black community in SE Wisconsin.

How Republicans expect Democrats to support funding DHS when they’re sending a rogue force of masked agents into our communities, maiming people, jailing little kids, and disappearing immigrants is beyond me. That’s why I’m a HELL NO.

75 15

Republicans are pushing more phony voter fraud lies to be able to disenfranchise millions of voters and rig elections in their favor. Democrats stand united to protect free and fair elections and our democracy.
