I announced $1 MILLION in federal Community Project Funding for a new Pediatric Blood Disorder Research Center at @ucsfchildrens.bsky.social. In 2014, I lost my husband to a rare blood cancer called T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia. A clinical trial gave our family two more years together.

Building communities where our babies, elders, families are safe is a top priority. That starts with resources, which is why I am so proud to present over $1 million in federal Community Project Funding to the City of Oakland's Department of Violence Prevention for Operation Ceasefire-Lifeline.

I joined @seiu.org to protest Republicans' latest reconciliation bill which includes $350 billion more for Trump's immigration enforcement machine. Democrats have been successful in withholding funding for ICE, so Republicans are trying to abuse the reconciliation process to push ICE $ through.

Last summer, the VA abruptly stopped 2 projects that would’ve expanded access to healthcare & services for veterans in the Bay Area. I immediately joined @pelosi.house.gov, @schiff.senate.gov, and @padilla.senate.gov to demand answers from the Administration. After months of fighting, we got a WIN.

My heart is with the families and loved ones of Amin, Mansour, Nadir and the entire San Diego Muslim community. May Allah grant peace to their souls. We must use this moment to find a new way forward. We all have a responsibility to call out the normalization of islamaphobic rhetoric.

I opposed to a bill that directly targets churches, charities, and nonprofits that provide bail support to families navigating a deeply unequal justice system. Bail support was a cornerstone of the civil rights movement, allowing people to protest unjust laws without fear they'd be locked away.

We are on Day 77 of Trump's illegal and inhumane war. He is endangering the lives of civilians, shattering every global alliance we have built, and raising costs for Americans with a $29 billion dollar war. I will not support or give a dime to the President's senseless war in Iran.

To wrap up small business week, I visited and held a roundtable with a few minority-owned small business owners from the Yemeni community in Temescal to hear about the unique challenges minority-owned small businesses face, to hear about their innovative ideas, and to try some delicious food!

The health of our communities is directly linked to our environments, which is why I am so proud to present over $1 million dollars in federal Community Project Funding to the City of San Leandro for clean water infrastructure and new recreation opportunities for local residents.

Nothing is more important than the health and safety of those who call CA-12 home. That is why I’m thrilled to announce half a million dollars for the Cities of Berkeley and Albany that will go towards a new regional fire training facility in the East Bay!

Happy Small Business Week, Oakland! More than 85% of all businesses are small businesses in the Town. Small businesses are not the exception - they *are* our economy. I was honored to join Mayor Lee & the City of Oakland's Economic and Workforce Development Department to celebrate small businesses.

I am proud to represent a beautiful tapestry of communities from all different backgrounds. Our cities were built and are sustained every single day by immigrants, yet the Trump Admin is trying to restrict access to Small Biz Administration resources with bigotry fueled citizenship requirements.

The last time the federal minimum wage was raised was 2009. For too long, our economy has relied on underpaying the very workers who keep this country running. That harm has fallen hardest on women, workers with disabilities, tipped workers, Black and brown workers, and working families.

This week, I introduced the Crime Survivor Support and Stability Act. This legislation was developed in partnership with my colleague @repemiliasykes.bsky.social and incredible community partners like @only1tinisch.bsky.social with Californians for Safety and Justice.

Care work is the quiet engine of this country. As co-chair of @demwomencaucus.bsky.social Caregiving Task Force, I am proud to join my colleagues to introduce a Congressional Resolution designating April as "Care Workers Recognition Month" to commit ourselves to caring for those who care for us.

Two incredible women, Mayor Lee and Councilwoman Ramachandran from CA-12 joined me to wish you a happy Women's History Month and to honor the women who came before us.

I am so proud to have secured over $11 MILLION in Community Project Funding for 15 projects across the East Bay. Mayor Barbara Lee and Council members Janani Ramachandran and Kevin Jenkins joined me in my office in D.C. to celebrate the 3 projects that the City of Oakland received funding for.

I am proud to announce that I secured over $1 million in Community Project Funding for the East Bay Regional Park District for water quality improvement! This funding is a part of the $11 million I secured for 15 different projects across our district.

As the first congenitally blind member of Congress, bringing disabled voices to the policy making table is extremely important to me. Last week, I hosted a roundtable at the Center for Independent Living in Berkeley to hear from and strategize with disability leaders on the most pressing issues.
