SB-005 is the most important bill I passed this year. This bill creates a state cause of action which allows us to hold federal officials (like 🧊) accountable for violating constitutional rights. Unfortunately, Gov. Polis has threatened to veto this bill. Wish me luck as I meet w/the governor 🥲🤞🏽

4 1

Gov. Polis just let me know he is going to veto my bill to make arbitration more fair. Arbitration is a system that is abused by bad actors to take advantage of consumers and workers and this bill was an important step forward.

HB26-1045 is now law!🎉 Last month, the Trump administration stripped protections for disabled tenants, making them choose between losing their assistance animals or losing their housing. House Bill 1045 establishes the strongest protections in the country for disabled tenants.🐶🐱

26 9

We must do everything in our power to protect from Donald Trump's extremism and cruelty. HB26-1276 tightens state regulations on immigration detention centers and imposes significant fines if they violate health and environmental safety. Governor Polis must sign it.

4 2

We have an obligation to dismantle unjust systems. We do that through building organized power and supporting unions for everyone.

4 1

Governor Polis commuted Tina Peters' sentence while thousands of parole-eligible Coloradans are stuck behind bars. Our current prison population management tools are not working. I was proud to sponsor SB36 to address this crisis. This bill is awaiting the governor's signature.

3 2

If our governor is so worried about prison population management, I have a bill he can sign. A lighter sentence for Tina Peters just gives a green light to the Trump administration to further attack our democracy.

On the last day of session, we're here to let you know what legislators really mean.

0 0

This legislative session, we once against recognized Nowruz. Of course, this year felt different.

3 0

The No Kings Act was defeated yesterday in committee. Senate Bill 176 would have allowed Coloradans to sue federal officials for violating their constitutional rights. As Democrats, we talk a lot about standing up to Trump. This was our chance.

In missing persons cases, it is imperative that all institutions operate swiftly and purposefully to ensure community safety, but instead we’ve seen procedural confusion and jurisdictional conflicts. SB120 updates missing persons reporting requirements to add clarity and quicken response times.

I'm so proud to honor April as Arab American Heritage Month and highlight the contributions of Arab Americans across Colorado.

Horrific stories of medical neglect in immigration detention centers are not unusual. Children are being locked in isolation, denied proper sleep and food, and blocked from healthcare. I was proud to support the Protecting Colorado Families Act, which mandates basic health and safety standards.

4 1

Last week, we passed two tax bills! 🙌🏽 These create a more equitable sales tax and property tax system.

I'm saddened that the CO House advanced SB26-121, raising the overtime threshold for farmworkers to 56 hours. When we target farmworkers as the only Coloradans that need to work more than 40 hours to receive overtime pay, we're sending them a message that we value their time less than other workers.

4 1

We should never have been in this war.

Its budget week! I spoke for continuing essential dental care coverage for undocumented kids. And our amendment passed! Now I ask the Senate to follow our lead - No more money for private prisons at the expense of our kids

Yesterday was hard. Not knowing if our president would make good on his threat to commit war crimes. Not knowing if my family was okay. Thank you 9News for the coverage.

My first picket with JBS workers was in 2020 when management refused to protect them from COVID-19. 6 years later, it's unacceptable that JBS continues to prioritize profit over safety. With management returning to the table, I hope they listen to workers' demands for safety, dignity, and respect.

Happy Farm Workers Day, formerly known as Cesar Chavez Day. I am proud of the legislature for acting quickly to ensure that this day no longer celebrates a rapist, but rather centers the everyday laborers who made up the farm workers movement.

Thank you to the families who shared their stories and turned their grief into action. When an adult is reported missing, their family should never be told to just wait. Reporting systems must be simplified and higher ed institutions must promptly report missing persons to law enforcement.

1 0

Families come in all shapes and sizes, which is why I just passed a bill to protect the rights of Coloradans to have private relationships without fear of violating antiquated laws. I look forward to the Governor's signature on SB26-013!

Over 2,000 Iranian civilians murdered. Cities destroyed. Children traumatized. My heart beats with Iranians around the world who are hurting.

HB26-1275 died in the Judiciary Committee this week. I'm having a hard time processing this. This bill was a community response to ICE's unlawful actions. This week, we failed to get basic protections across the finish line. But I will keep fighting and doing everything I can for our communities.

Glad to be the Representative who gives my GOP colleagues a “sense of abject terror.”

I am proud to announce the passage of my bill prohibiting insurance companies from collecting restitution. This bill ensures that giant financial institutions do not profit from individuals who are rebuilding their lives.

Today we introduced the Rizzler Amendment to make sure no kidfluencer is left behind. It did not pass, but we still give it 💪💪💪 3 BOOMS 💥💥💥

We live in a surveillance state. I am deeply concerned about automatic license plate readers fueling unconstitutional immigration enforcement. The PEEPS Act prevents ALPR companies like Flock from selling out our personal data to the highest bidder.

I am proud to endorse Julie Gonzales (@senadorajulie.bsky.social) for the US Senate! We need a fighter who will stand up for working people and defend our constitutional rights. Learn more about Julie at www.julieforcolorado.com

Today, we unveiled a tax package that supports everyday people over giant corporate interests. 🥳 At a time when families are struggling and GOP politicians are giving massive handouts to the wealthy, we are making our priorities clear. Children > corporate profits, always. ✊🏽

12 6

We have been trained to accept price gouging in airports and other captive settings. It doesn’t have to be this way. I appreciate @9news.bsky.social for their investigative reporting.

1 1

Coloradans are ready to fight for our neighbors and we’re bringing that fight with us to the state capitol. Thank you to Denver 7, Fox 31, and CBS Colorado for your coverage of this important story.

Today, the House passed HB26-1045! This bill codifies that individuals with disabilities have a right to their assistance animals in response to the federal government's rescission of guidelines. 🐕🐈 No one should ever have to choose between their housing & their service animal.

4 2

In these unprecedented times, it is our job as lawmakers to ensure that the constitutional rights of every Coloradan are protected. Thanks to @kylec.bsky.social for covering the work we are doing at the Capitol to protect Coloradans.

7 2

I am proud to be a child of immigrants. I am proud to be the first Iranian elected to the State Legislature. And I am so proud of our community’s work to resist fascism, racism, and cruelty. In Colorado, we say enough. Today we unveiled a package of bills to protect our immigrant community.

10 4

I am proud to introduce HB26-1012 to prevent bad-acting corporations from price gouging consumers who literally have no other option but to pay for inflated prices.

Alex Pretti was a nurse who dedicated his life to helping veterans. He was murdered trying to protect a woman being assaulted by ICE agents. He lived a hero and died as a hero. Colorado Rapid Response Network: 1-844-864-8341

Larimer County deserves to have a County Commisioner who is ready to serve on Day 1. As an educator and policy expert, Shane has the competency, knowledge, skill, and tact to best deliver results for our residents. I am proud to endorse @shane-atkinson.bsky.social for Larimer County Commissioner!

I stand in solidarity with the people of Iran who are fighting for their right to a dignified life. The Iranian government’s brutality against peaceful protesters is horrifying, and we all need to speak out for innocent Iranians bravely putting their lives at risk to demand change.

3 0

My first bill is officially introduced! It builds on my work to combat price gouging and protect consumers when there’s no real choice. Whether it’s a stadium, a hospital, or any place with no alternatives, no one should be charged excessive prices just because they're stuck.

1 0

The most dangerous thing is if we learn to live with government violence and lies that excuse it. I refuse to allow these atrocities to become normal. Fuck 🧊

2 2

The Trump administration is executing Americans on our streets and bombing civilians abroad. We cannot stand by while our country is slipping into authoritarianism! Join me tomorrow at 3pm in Oak Street Plaza to demand an end to secret police and illegal wars. RSVP: tiny.cc/noice_nowar

Colorado needs leadership that puts working people first, holds powerful interests accountable, and builds a State that is affordable for everyone. I look forward to working with our next Governor, Michael Bennet, to deliver this vision for every Coloradan.

2 1

I decided to run for office because as a daughter of immigrants, a woman of color, and an Iranian-American, our communities were missing a seat at the table. Thank you to the IABA for recognizing my work with the Trailblazer Award. I look forward to continuing our work for our communities together.

This past week’s blue wave is a mandate for a fair tax code, protecting civil and constitutional rights, and ensuring every person can afford basic needs like housing and food.

Republicans are taking food out of the mouths of hungry children. It is cruel - there’s no other way to put it. Go to feedingamerica.com to find resources if you need food or to donate to your local food bank. I will be giving to foodbanklarimer.org and hope you will join me.

5 3

If Republicans really want to reduce crime, they should start by supporting the proven solutions that make our communities safer.

6 3

Republicans have shut down our government to redistribute the hard-earned money of working people into the pockets of billionaires. The $300 million of cuts CSU is facing are an authoritarian attack on higher education and a way for the GOP to pump even more cash into ICE’s cruelty.

1 0

Republicans are once again putting women at risk of violence. Instead of cooling down our dangerous political climate, they’re tossing gasoline on the fire. We all have to call out this dangerous behavior.

5 0

Its not so easy to ask for money 😅 .. but we need all the help we can get to elect champions that will: ✅️ fight for workers ✅️ stand up to big tech companies ✅️ make sure the ultra wealthy pay their fair share Help us build a better Colorado at tiny.cc/yarafund

Happy Labor Day everyone! Special Session is finally over and while we were fixing the budget Republicans broke, Republican Former Representative Ryan Armagost has gone to the birds! 🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛

2 0

Former Representative Armagost kicked off an online harassment campaign against me and my family which was enabled by Republican leadership. I’m speaking out because this type of workplace misconduct keeps women, people of color, and other vulnerable communities out of politics.

31 12

Our tax code is set up to benefit the ultra-rich and giant corporations. I’m using my understanding of our rigged system to fight for a tax policy that benefits working people, not just the 1%.

5 1

Won't someone think of the poor multinational corporations! 🤧 As a tax attorney, I was trained to find corporations tax loopholes. I was shocked to learn just how our tax system is rigged for the wealthy and well connected.

2 0

Republicans are shuttering rural hospitals and throwing countless Coloradans off Medicaid, while enabling their billionaire funders to conceal wealth in offshore accounts. I’m proud to introduce HB25B-1002, which cracks down on tax havens and funds the programs that Coloradans rely on to survive.

7 3

We should not be talking about giving the ultra-rich a massive discount while working people pay taxes on every dollar they earn. HB25B-1001 is about fairness, which means ensuring that our tax code isn’t putting the burden on those who are already struggling.

0 0

The Democrats are laser focused this session - because we know every dollar we save by closing corporate tax loopholes is another dollar for education, for health care, for food assistance, for the essential services that Coloradans rely on. We’re stepping up to solve this crisis responsibly.

1 0

Heading back to the Capitol tomorrow to close corporate tax loopholes and do everything in my power to protect Coloradans from Trump's bill. Republicans want to continue to take from everyday families to pad the pockets of billionaires. It is shameful.

2 0

Our kids shouldn't have to choose between sweltering in a classroom or missing out on their education! The lack of A/C in Poudre School District is just another demonstration of TABOR failing our kids.

10 3

The GOP has blown a $1.2 BILLION hole in our budget. Colorado legislators will come together next week for a special legislative session to do what we can. We will focus on closing corporate tax loopholes, preserving Medicaid and SNAP, and AI regulations. but we have limited toolset due to TABOR.

2 1

The Republicans were more concerned with starting a sexual harassment campaign than paying attention to my bill to address price gouging... but the Democrats will continue to show up for our communities. I hope one day women will not have to face this double standard in the workplace.

1 0

I walk in to work everyday focused on passing meaningful legislation. Unfortunately, being an outspoken woman of color has had terrifying real life consequences for my family. The GOP will keep trying to bully women into silence. Thank you to my fellow democrats who have joined me in pushing back.

1 0

Far-right groups can try all they want to create distractions, but they can't hide the human impact of kicking hundreds of thousands of working people in Colorado off their healthcare. I'll keep fighting for a fair tax and healthcare system that serves everyone, not just the wealthy few

1 0

This bill will kill people. Republicans looked the other way. I will keep fighting for all of those at risk, and will do everything in my power to keep critical services. I also won't forget who did this - and neither should you.

I remain deeply concerned that Trump's reckless and illegal bombing of Iran will worsen regional security and draw the US into another endless war. I am also troubled by the way Iranian-Americans, Muslims, and more are being demonized. (1/2)

1 0

Republicans and Democrats alike oppose war with Iran. I am urging Congress to take action to stop these unconstitutional attacks and find a peaceful resolution. See the full story here: www.denver7.com/news/politic...

The Labor Peace Act has always been a tool for big business to suppress worker organizing and workplace democracy. We have dealt with 80 years of corporations weaponizing law against workers. With the Workers Protection Act, I am glad to leave those days behind. I will always stand with workers.

As the federal EMTALA law crumbles under this administration, SB25-130 stands up to protect life-saving emergency care for pregnant patients. In states where health care is restricted, pregnant people are being denied emergency reproductive care until it’s too late - we won't let that happen in CO!

Glad to get my coffee #unionstrong from the first Starbucks in Larimer County to unionize at 1535 Rocky Mountain Ave! Also major congrats to the 1708 S College Ave store for being the second store in Larimer County—and the first in Fort Collins—to unionize.

5 1

Thank you CBS for your coverage of HB25-1296. At a time when we are debating cuts to crucial services, we should also consider the credits we grant to big business. I am proud to bring this cleanup of our tax code to ensure we prioritize people over profit.

Fox news and right-wing media is attacking me for calling hate groups hate groups. So let me just take the opportunity to say.. I said what I said. I will not be bullied out of standing up for our trans community. 🏳️‍⚧️
