I visited the ICE processing facility in Cary with Rep. Foushee. This is where people are held before moving to a larger detention center. We're taking oversight into our own hands, which is why we're going to Georgia to view conditions and hear from detainees directly. More to come.

I had an amazing time at TST, the premier 7v7 soccer festival taking place here in Cary. I'm so proud of what the Carolina Courage has helped to build and had the opportunity to meet Chris Paul and Mana Shim, two incredible athletes leading the fight for equality in women's sports!

Trump's $1.7 billion plus slush fund is corruption at its most obvious: using your taxpayer dollars to reward the President's allies, including Jan 6th rioters convicted of attacking law enforcement. I have yet to speak to anyone - Republican or Democrat - in favor of this.

10 6

Republicans seem to have just learned what an informant is. And apparently haven't seen the movie BlacKkKlansman. The SPLC has used informants for years to take down hate groups from the inside. Now, Republicans are acting as if this concept is new to smear their work.

16 5

Trump’s DOJ has accused the Southern Poverty Law Center of funding hate. It's absurd, especially while this admin is set to pay out violent rioters with our tax dollars. The SPLC fought the KKK and defended our voting rights in NC. These charges are ridiculous and un-American.

15 8

ICE has taken up a tactic of detaining immigrants who report crimes. It's causing violent criminals to go free, and victims are scared to report crimes. ICE's inhumane tactics are making our country less safe.

14 13

I guess this is what it looks like when Republicans control Washington…

6 2

If Republicans were serious about honoring law enforcement during National Police Week, they wouldn't let Trump pay off the people who beat up law enforcement on January 6th. Trump calls these convicted criminals ‘patriots’ and gave them a blanket pardon. Now he wants to give them taxpayer dollars.

12 6

Over 50K people apply for law enforcement jobs a year, which includes a background check. Yet officers can get hired who shouldn't be: current law blocks key hiring agencies from accessing federal criminal history. The solution is simple: Give the agencies access to this info.

Families + businesses are hurting from rising gas prices. Trump's attitude? “If they rise, they rise.” That’s unacceptable. I met with local business and nonprofit leaders to hear how these costs are hurting them and their employees. Washington must end this war + lower prices.

I visited Once in a Blue Moon Bakery during Small Business Week to hear how things are going. I am working to make sure businesses like hers are able to thrive in this economy.

While gas hovers at $4.20 a gallon, the NC Rail Division is celebrating its 5th year of record ridership. Train travel is affordable, fun, and better for the planet. I was so grateful to hop aboard the Raleigh-Charlotte line and hear about the amazing work NC Rail is doing.

Partisan gerrymandering has left millions without true representation in Congress, including here in NC. I’ve introduced a bill to increase transparency and backed legislation to require independent commissions in every state. It just needs Republican support to pass.

12 3

Your move, @scanlon.house.gov. GO CANES! #canes

I turned out for the teachers rally to support Wake County educators. Our teachers are underpaid, overworked, and underappreciated. It's time for North Carolina to invest in our public schools and give our teachers a raise.

24 4

After 75 days of chaos, House Republicans finally agreed to do the right thing and end the DHS shutdown. This crisis was entirely avoidable, and Republicans bear full responsibility. Now, Democrats will stay focused on passing urgently needed reforms to ICE and CBP.

Ghislaine Maxwell's prison sentence is virtually the only justice that's been served for Epstein's survivors, and now she's looking for Trump to give her a pardon. I'm leading an investigation into Maxwell's prison transfer and will make sure she pays the price for what she did.

22 3

Christina Koch has officially become the first woman to complete a lunar orbit. Today, I honored her and the Artemis II crew on the floor of the House of Representatives. As an NC State grad, she has made North Carolina extremely proud. Go Pack!

Let's be 100% clear: Trump has put us at war with Iran completely by choice. His actions have gotten increasingly erratic and dangerous. Congress will be voting today to prevent Trump from waging this war unchecked, and I will be voting yes.

16 7

Trump's actions and behavior have been dangerous and damaging. The 25th amendment has a provision that allows Congress to look into whether the President is fit for office. I helped introduce a bill to establish this commission.

17 8

This administration has found plenty of time to take care of Trump's cronies and billionaire friends, but hasn't found the time to take care of people after natural disasters. It's been almost two years since Helene, and communities still don't have the aid they were promised.

6 3

President Trump changes his tune every day about what's going on in Iran or how long it will last. His behavior is increasingly unhinged and we don't know what the mission is. Congress needs to pass a War Powers Resolution and put an end to this conflict.

14 3

ICE + CBP already have a massive slush fund. Congress doesn't need to give them more money without holding them accountable. I'll return to DC ASAP to vote for the unanimously passed Senate bill to fund TSA, FEMA, & DHS agencies while Congress negotiates reforms for ICE + CBP.

14 6

Trump has threatened to wipe out an entire civilization. Even if he doesn't make good on this threat, it is horrifying and beyond irresponsible. Speaker Johnson must immediately call Congress back to D.C. to rein in Trump's erratic behavior and this escalating war of choice.

38 11

Since Trump took office, electric costs have gone up 21% in NC. And his war in Iran will only push prices higher. Now, the proposal to raise rates an extra 18% will hit families' already-tight budgets across the state. None of this puts North Carolinians first.

10 3

Incompetence and contempt for the rule of law only get you so far. I’ll keep fighting to bring justice for Epstein’s survivors now that Pam Bondi is out of our way.

27 7

The Senate unanimously passed a bipartisan bill to fund TSA, but House Republicans refused to hold a vote on it. I'm glad TSA agents are finally being paid, but we need a permanent solution. It's time to fund TSA immediately so Congress can negotiate needed reforms to ICE + CBP.

10 4

Across the state, energy costs have gone up twice as fast as the cost of living. And as electric companies achieve record profits, they want to raise rates by 18%. I will continue to stand alongside North Carolinians in firm opposition to these price hikes.

4 2

It's Friday afternoon. TSA still hasn't been paid, and Democrats are absolutely united in ending this chaos at our airports. This morning, the Senate passed a bill to fund TSA unanimously, but House Republicans are blocking a vote on it. What's going on, explained:

13 1

This month, I hosted my office's annual State of Women. At a time when women are facing unprecedented attacks--from their health care to the ballot box--bringing women together and supporting one another is more important than ever.

7 3

Pam Bondi and her Department of Justice are not following the law. There are thousands of files that have not been released. Perpetrator's names were still redacted when I went myself to view the Epstein Files. Bondi needs to comply with the law or go.

71 34

A lot of people think showing an ID to vote seems sensible. But that’s not what the SAVE Act does. This bill goes much farther, making it harder and more expensive to vote for millions of people, especially married women. Allow me to explain:

32 10

I just viewed part of the unredacted Epstein Files. The reach of this criminal enterprise is deeper than imaginable. What I saw proved what we already know: perpetrators are not being held accountable & survivors still deserve justice.

53 23

I'm about to view the unredacted Epstein Files at the Department of Justice. I'm here to get answers, accountability, and justice for the survivors.

47 22

Secretary Noem had the time to approve two luxury private jets, but she can't find the time to approve disaster relief for Western North Carolina in a timely manner. North Carolinians shouldn't have to front the money indefinitely for her incompetence.

49 20

I've seen firsthand how Western North Carolina is struggling after being forced to front the cost of Hurricane Helene recovery. I shouldn't have to berate Kristi Noem to get her to do her job. Maybe if she stopped focusing on detaining citizens, she could get NC the aid we need.

54 26

I'm about to question Kristi Noem when she testifies before @housejuddems. She has a lot of explaining to do, but I don't expect that she's going to be up for the task. Stay tuned.

37 4

Pam Bondi wouldn’t give clear answers when I pressed as to why Maxwell was transferred to a cushy, minimum-security prison. That's why I'm leading an investigation to get full answers as to who authorized this transfer, and why.

28 6

My guest for tonight's SOTU is NC Supreme Court Justice Anita Earls. Our country's Republican leaders are taking away voting rights, both in North Carolina and Washington, D.C. We're here to speak out and call out these unlawful attempts to suppress the voices of voters.

44 16

Ella Baker was a giant in the civil rights movement, a mentor for the next generation, and powerful advocate. During Black History Month, I honored her legacy on the House floor. NC and our country are better because of Ella Baker.

18 8

Attorney General Pam Bondi says convicted predators shouldn't get special treatment but can't answer why Ghislaine Maxwell gets special treatment in a lower security prison. Bondi is letting Maxwell's life be easier while ignoring the survivors of her crimes.

31 12

Pam Bondi shouldn't be surprised I'm asking her questions when she is testifying before Congress. The survivors sitting behind her deserve answers on whether this administration is willing to negotiate clemency with Epstein's co-conspirator.

107 22

Pam Bondi is testifying before the House Judiciary Committee tomorrow. She's going to have some explaining to do. @kamlager-dove.house.gov and I talk about why she's exposing the victims and protecting the perps in Epstein files for the @demwomencaucus.bsky.social.

18 7

Here's the bottom line: anything short of releasing all of the Epstein files amounts to a cover up.

60 22

You have questions about the Epstein files. And the @demwomencaucus.bsky.social is demanding—and getting—answers. I sat down with @kamlager-dove.house.gov to answer some of your top questions about the Epstein files.

10 5

Recording an ICE agent doesn't make you an agitator. Bringing meals to neighbors scared to leave home doesn't make you an extremist. Making sure a child isn't abducted doesn't make you a domestic terrorist. We will not tolerate these attacks on peaceful protest.

37 11

What we have seen happen to athletes at universities across the country cannot continue. But Republicans are more focused on culture wars than making real progress to protect athletes. If they actually wanted to protect athletes, my bipartisan bill would do that.

5 1

Kristi Noem has refused to take accountability for the actions of ICE and DHS. If she won't be fired or resign, then she must be impeached. I have called for all three.

51 14

Former Special Counsel Jack Smith confirmed what we already knew: Trump is the person responsible for inciting an insurrection January 6th.

14 4

53 years ago, Roe v. Wade marked a major victory for women's freedom. Today that right to reproductive freedom is gone. And the attacks on women’s health have only gone further: millions are losing Medicaid coverage & expiring ACA tax credits priced people out of care. Republicans are to blame.

23 14

I was so honored to join the opening celebration for Wake County's New Public Health Center, and see the federal funding I secured for this project being put to work. This is one step forward in getting accessible and affordable health care to everyone in our community.

9 2

Fatima did all the right things to be in this country; she has work authorization, no criminal record, and is allowed to be here while her asylum case was pending. Yet she was still detained for over a month. This is happening across the country. It's unlawful and unjust.

22 7

Minneapolis is the latest community to experience violence at the hands of ICE and CBP. We saw it in North Carolina too. Federal immigration officers have been abusing their power and violating people's rights. Our people have said: enough is enough.

34 13

Next week is our last legislative week of the year and our last chance to preserve access to life-saving care for our constituents. It's time for Republicans to join Democrats to extend the ACA tax credits and save health care access for millions of Americans.

13 4

Today I spoke about Fatima, a young woman from Wendell who was detained by CBP while simply doing her job. She has no criminal history, a pending asylum claim, and she was still denied bond. We won't stop fighting until Fatima is home where she belongs.
