Two days until Indiana Democrats choose our nominee for Secretary of State. The question before delegates isn't just who can win a nomination. It's who can build something bigger. Thank you to the Hancock County Democrats for the conversation and for the opportunity to make my case.

I'm deeply grateful to Jonathan and to every Hoosier who has chosen to be part of this campaign. This movement has never been about me. It's about people who believe Indiana deserves leadership that listens, shows up, and puts service first.

It's easy to enter a race when the polls say you can win. It's easy when the incumbent is already weighed down by scandal. But in January 2025, when everything felt hopeless, something in me said we couldn't just sit back and wait for someone else to step up. So I started organizing.

The Secretary of State's office shouldn't feel stuck in the 1990s. Whether you're filing campaign finance reports, starting a small business, or trying to access public information, government services should be simple, modern, and easy to use.

This is a service job. The answers to Indiana's challenges won't come from political insiders. They'll come from Hoosiers who live them every day. That's why I'll keep showing up in communities across all 92 counties, because the people closest to the problems are often closest to the solutions.

After visiting all 92 counties, Blythe Potter has consistently emphasized one goal: making civic participation easier to understand. This morning, in Clinton, Indiana, I reached my 92nd county on this campaign journey. A year ago, when I announced this campaign, I knew I wanted to do things differently. I wanted to earn this by showing up, listening, and having real conversations with people across Indiana.

Everywhere I go in Indiana, I keep hearing the same thing.  Hoosiers want leaders who understand what it's actually like to raise a family here, work here, struggle here, and build a future here.  Not performative. No polished talking points. Real leadership.

My main responsibility as your next Secretary of State would be overseeing Indiana’s elections. But the job is much bigger than that. At its core, this office is about public service. That’s how I view this role. As a service-based job. Do you agree? I’d love to hear your thoughts below.

What does transparency actually look like in government? It means showing voters exactly how taxpayer dollars are being used, not months later, but within 24 hours. It means giving local clerks the tools to report campaign finance in real time, so voters can see what’s happening as it happens.

A lot of unexpected things have happened this election season. But here’s the difference: some campaigns are built on name recognition and outside money, while others are built on real work in the community.
