Today, I voted NO on Hochul's revenue budget bill that failed to sufficiently tax the rich or protect New Yorkers from federal cuts. The pied-à-terre tax that our movement won is a start, but it is not enough. The fight for dignity and justice for working New Yorkers continues.

JUST NOW: Republicans interrupted me while speaking about Trump's egregious cuts & threats to our democracy on the Assembly floor, citing “decorum.” But Trump & his oligarchs don’t deserve our respect when his federal cuts will strip health insurance from 450k NYers & SNAP from 300k families!

Today, I stood with a coalition of Palestinian, Jewish, human rights organizations, labor unions, and elected officials to reintroduce the Not on Our Dime! Act, a historic bill to end NY’s complicity in Israel’s war crimes, genocide, and the violent displacement of Palestinians.

Today, I voted YES on a budget bill that included protections for immigrants, an important start to end our state’s collusion with ICE. But we must do more. We must pass the New York for All Act to end all collusion between ICE and law enforcement. Chinga La Migra. Abolish ICE.

I got on my bike and took a risk to share some big news: @nyc-dot.bsky.social has an updated and expanded proposal to redesign 31st Street!

ICE is a rogue agency with no regards for the rule of law or public safety. They enter our homes, schools, and hospitals to separate families and detain innocent people. Colluding with ICE means colluding with Trump’s authoritarianism. We must pass New York For All.

We have a fascist in the White House who is giving our public dollars away to the ultra-wealthy. It would be unacceptable for NY to let this year go by without taxing the rich. We must pass my bill with @sengonzalezny.bsky.social to tax NYC's wealthiest corporations, and we must do it now!

I took office just over a month ago with a mandate to fight for an Astoria & Long Island City we can afford. Today, I voted YES on the Assembly's budget proposal which includes a version of my bill with @sengonzalezny.bsky.social to raise taxes on NYC's wealthiest corporations & raise $1.7 billion.

In 2015, I interned with @maketheroadny.bsky.social as part of their Worker Rights Program. Today, I was proud to stand with them as an Assemblymember to demand the passage of New York for All to end NY's collaboration with ICE. In this moment of crisis, we must be BOLD. ¡Sí se puede!

On Tuesday night, we won our election by 57 points. On Wednesday morning, I traveled to the New York State Capitol to be sworn into office and seated as the Assemblymember for the 36th District. I'll be back in Albany tomorrow to continue fighting for the people of Astoria and Long Island City.
