With the help of the Supreme Court continuing to show their partisan colors, Alabama has officially re-joined the Old Confederacy. But make no mistake, we intend to build a better Alabama where everyone has a seat at the table.

We have a lot of momentum after last week’s primary victory. We can win again this fall folks, just like my friend Gov. Andy Beshear wins in Kentucky. Thanks Andy, for believing in what we are building in Alabama. Oh, and remember - we’ve won statewide in Alabama before!

Even in these chaotic and uncertain times, I hope everyone takes a moment today, Memorial Day 2026, to reflect on why we set aside this one day: to honor the courage and commitment of those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending ….

So maybe “Coach” doesn’t know what Memorial Day is and would rather give criminals who beat police and attacked the US Capitol a billion dollars of your hard earned money. Most might say this is unbelievable…..

Sixty one years ago brave foot soldiers crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge in a peaceful demonstration to attain voting rights, only to be met by state troopers with billy clubs. After a great event with folks in Selma this morning we stopped by the bridge….

Yes folks, we are still having primary elections in Alabama on Tuesday, May 19th and I would appreciate your vote for Governor. Lots of noise out there but the election will go on. Your vote is your voice so make it heard. Vote May 19 and let’s change Alabama.

Primary Day is one month from today. If you are not a registered voter please register. You have until May 4th. If you are registered go to the AL Sec of State website at myinfo.alabamavotes.gov and check your status.

Today has been Equal Pay Day. It is a reminder of how much I miss my great friend Lilly Ledbetter, the champion of equal pay for women, but also a reminder of the work ahead of us to erase the pay disparities between men and women. Lilly would be all in with our campaign!

Louise and I always enjoy seeing old friends at Terri Sewell’s annual Ultimate Ladies Power luncheon, but this one was extra special with both @repsewell and special guest @repnikema coming out with strong endorsements….

Black History Month is always a time for honoring and celebration, but as I said in my keynote at the N AL Black Realtists Association/ Nat’l Association of Real Estate Brokers gala last weekend, this year feels different and should also be used as a clarion call for action.

We can take power away from the special interests in Montgomery by giving Alabamians the power to propose and enact laws and Constitutional amendments. A bill introduced by Rep. Lands does that. Call you AL rep and insist that they vote to pass HB14, “The AL We The People Act”

Today we said goodbye to Claudette Colvin, whose act of courage at age 15 was almost forgotten, but spurred Rosa Parks and one of the greatest movements for change. Claudette knew that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. I was honored to speak at her funeral. RIP my friend, RIP.

With all of the chaos in the news this week you may have missed the passing of Claudette Colvin, a true civil rights icon. It was Claudette who, at age 15, first refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus in 1955, prompting further action by MLK and Rosa Parks. RIP my friend

It’s the first day of the legislative session in Alabama and the Governor is giving her “State of the State” address tonight. But we’re hearing that the Republican leaders in Montgomery will not bring up the one thing that Alabamians want: allowing folks to vote on a lottery!
