Good news: We voted down Congresswoman Mace’s amendment to let fears of alleged “woke bias” undermine years of standardized, merit-based admissions. If we care about fairness & maintaining rigorous admissions standards, we should rely on assessments that are thoroughly validated and widely accepted.
I took a moment after votes this week to call back Abigail, a sixth grader who reached out to my office about a school project! Especially during busy weeks in Congress, I’m so grateful to speak with young people who continue to lean in & participate in their government as our Founders envisioned.
