Amsterdam is home to the first underwater bike parking in the world. It's open 24/7, can house 7,000 bikes and 700 rental bikes and has a shop for maintenance and repair. Construction costs were around 60 million euros. That's cheap compared to the annual savings on healthcare costs from cycling!
On the outskirts of Porto San Giorgo in Italy, the Ciclovia Adriatica crosses a bicycle bridge over the River Ete, revealing a magnificent view: on one side the clear blue waters of the Adriatic Sea, and on the other, in the distance, the snow-capped peaks of the Monti Sibillini National Park.
When Pont Adolphe in Luxembourg was closed to reinforce the structure so that a tram line could be laid on top, a walking and cycling bridge was suspended beneath the arch structure to minimize inconvenience. Now you can enjoy the sound of birds instead the sound traffic while crossing the bridge!
