Cycling on the F12, the 19 km long continuous cycle route ('doorfietsroute') connecting Utrecht with Woerden. Routes like this make it possible to cycle smoothly, safely, and comfortably between cities and villages, and make it more attractive for commuters to choose the bike over the car.

The square on the right used to be a big parking lot. And their were 4 car lanes instead of 2 for public transport. Like many other cities, Utrecht was very much car-oriented. But Utrecht made some tough and bold choices and became the city many people admire today. Change is possible!

Over 60 cyclists pass on this side of the street in under 30 seconds. And their flow only stops because the traffic light turned red. An efficiency impossible to match if these people were driving.
