I visited my constituent Carlitos at the Adelanto ICE facility. ICE shot him in October. His gunshot wound is infected, his hand is purple, and he’s suffering immense pain—and ICE refuses to give him proper care. I won’t stop fighting until he gets the care he desperately needs.

The Senate passed a War Powers Resolution to end Trump's illegal, failing war on Iran. The lone House Democratic holdout said he'd vote for it. Then, House Republicans pulled down a vote on the War Powers Resolution. They're cowards who care more about Trump than America.

Our democracy is under attack. But instead of storming the Capitol, Republicans are gerrymandering maps to weaken Black political power and silence the voices of millions of Americans. We must meet this moment with urgency to ensure democracy works for all of us.

Most Black Members of Congress, like me, are not from majority-Black districts. @cbc.house.gov works for ALL Americans to ensure a rising tide lifts all boats. While we fight back against SCOTUS' ruling that dilutes Black voting power, we'll keep representing the people.

On Tuskegee Airmen Commemoration Day, I was proud to honor American hero and Angeleno Jerry T. Hodges, Jr. At a time when the Trump is trying to erase Black history—American history—I was proud to introduce a bill to commemorate Jerry by renaming a DTLA post office in his honor.

Democrats WON when Senate Republicans joined us to vote to fund the Department of Homeland Security without funding ICE or border patrol. But instead of letting the House vote on this bill, loser Mike Johnson decided to continue the shutdown because he refuses to rein in ICE.

Kristi Noem just got fired because Americans raised their voices and @democrats-judiciary.house.gov and @judiciarydems.senate.gov held her accountable this week. Democrats aren’t even in power in the House or Senate right now. Imagine what we can do to stand up to Trump once we take Congress back.

Secretary Noem has given Corey Lewandowski, an unqualified special government employee, unprecedented power. The Department of Homeland Security is charged with keeping Americans safe. We deserve sound judgement and ethical leadership—it’s a matter of national security.

If this war was truly defensive, nothing should be ambiguous. I have a nephew graduating from the Marine Academy this week. And I have no clear answer for him if he’s sent to war and asks why.

If House Republicans think that the president should do their jobs by unilaterally declaring war, then they shouldn't keep their jobs. Why would anyone decide to give up power or the voices of the people they represent?

The Department of Homeland Security shut down yesterday because Trump and Republicans refuse to negotiate commonsense reforms to rein in ICE. I will keep fighting for accountability—and I won’t let up until we get it.

If we let the Trump Administration get away with erasing history, we are doomed to repeat it.   Removing exhibits about slavery from our National Parks is shameful. As we prepare to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday we must remember that Black history IS American history—dark parts and all.
