If people don't feel represented by politicians - why would they bother voting for them? As Emma Harrison, CEO of Make Votes Matter says: We need to change the voting system to fix politics for the voters - so they actually feel represented, and re-engage in politics.

A message for Burnham if he becomes an MP, or even PM: Stick with it. Don't follow Blair or Farage and roll back on your commitment to PR if you decide the current system favours you To fix the country we have to fix politics & that has to start with the voting system

A blunt, honest message for the Labour Government - from a Labour MP. Responding to a speech calling for a fairer voting system by Liberal Democrat Richard Foord. #politics #makevotesmatter #proportionalrepresentation #fairvotes #fixpolitics

Belarus is the only country in Europe with the same voting system as us. Hardly a ringing endorsement. It is quite simply out of date and not fit for purpose. The government should seize the opportunity in the Rep of the People Bill to actually fix our politics

Our system forces people to vote AGAINST people more often than they are able to vote FOR the party they believe in. That is poisoning our politics. We believe people should be able to vote positively - with hope. #politics #makevotesmatter #proportionalrepresentation #fairvotes #fixpolitics

1/3 of the vote 2/3 of the seats 3/3 of the power That is what our voting system delivered for Labour in the last general election. Who will benefit next time? #politics #makevotesmatter #proportionalrepresentation #fairvotes #fixpolitics

Electoral Reform may not seem to matter on a daily basis but how we vote affects how we are governed, and how we are governed affects everything from our NHS is run to how clean our water is The government has a chance to fix politics to help fix the country. They should take it

The days of the blue team and the red team shouting at each other are gone. Politics has changed - and with it comes more instability. We need this government to fix politics so we can put the country back on a stable footing. #politics #makevotesmatter #fairvotes #fixpolitics

Up and down the country residents are stuck with councils that simply do not represent them. Even in a hung council, First Past the Post delivers too many seats to the largest party. Proportional systems would bring balance, while First Past the Post throws it out the window

Changing Prime Minister 6 times 10 years makes it impossible to put the long term plans in place that we need - to fix our economy, our health services and so much more. We need to fix politics to fix the country. #politics #makevotesmatter #proportionalrepresentation #fairvotes #fixpolitics

Liberal Democrats do not believe we should have won 100% of the seats in Richmond with only 51% of the vote Just as Reform in Wigan should not have won 96% of available seats with 46% of the vote These are just two recent examples highlighting why we need to fix our politics

"First past the post brings stability" "Coalitions bring chaos" Tell that to the 6 Prime Ministers we have had in 10 years Meanwhile the last government that lasted 5 years without changing leader was a coalition The arguments against proportional systems do not stack up

No party should have a majority in Parliament with less than 30% of the vote - especially not extremists like Reform UK. But under our current political system - that is entirely possible. We have to fix the system before the next election - before its too late.

In Richmond, Lib Dems won 100% of the seats - for 51% of the votes. In Wigan, Reform won 96% of available seats with 46% of the vote. Lib Dems do not believe this is ok. But the Prime Minister "still has confidence" in this system. What do you think?

29 15

Does the Prime Minister think all votes should matter? He couldn't be clearer: No he does not. We want to fix politics so that this country works for you. The Labour government does not.

At an LDER/ @appgfairelections.bsky.social Fringe event, @ollyglover.bsky.social said "I'm spending a lot of time campaigning for Proportional Representation because our politics simply isn't working. (...) We need a politics that brings more ideas into it and where everyone's votes count equally."

Sarah Olney MP spoke at the Liberal Democrats Fringe "Votes at 16: a fair deal for young people?" which also had speakers from Young @makevotesmatter.bsky.social and My Life My Say. Sarah explains here why we should encourage voting at 16:
