Our government’s system of checks and balances does not work when Congress refuses to hold the President accountable. It’s time we see some real courage.

Here’s the deal right now: Trump & Republicans are willing to shut down the government instead of work with Democrats to prevent health care costs from rising even more. People are hurting as a result of Trump’s severe cuts, and Americans’ premiums are expected to double. We must take action.

I’m leading a bill to ensure our service members and federal employees get the pay they have missed so far due to the shutdown. People need to pay their bills now. Simple as that. I encourage my colleagues to get behind it as we work to address the health care crisis and end this shutdown.

It's a very simple compromise: Protect existing health care credits, end the shutdown.   We must take action on rising costs for families who are shopping for their health care right now, and we can end this shutdown.

Trump's Administration could release the full SNAP funding currently available right now. Yet, he has fought it every step of the way. Hungry children should not be penalized as we keep working to reopen the government.

Trump’s Big, Bad Bill is already making it harder for families across our state to afford groceries, pay their energy bills, and receive health care – just to give billionaires a tax cut.

There is no authority for the President to make sweeping changes to our elections. But that’s exactly what President Trump is trying to do. The executive order goes against the very heart of the free and fair elections that make our nation a strong democracy.

Free speech is fundamental to our country. When the FCC threatens to revoke media licenses just because the President gets offended, it’s a direct attack on Americans’ First Amendment right.
