The fact the SNP think independence is the most pressing thing Parliament could debate suggests the government is set to waste the next 5 years. We need to be focussed on fixing the NHS and care, helping people with the cost-of-living crisis and fixing the roads and the ferries.

It is clear that our victories in seats like Caithness, Sutherland and Ross and Strathkelvin and Bearsden denied John Swinney the majority he craved. We are now raring to go to deliver change with fairness at its heart for our constituents.

If you break your arm you’d expect to have it in cast by the end of the day but the wait for mental health treatment can be months. John Swinney unleashed millions of pounds of cuts on mental health services at the same time as the SNP were promising to clear down waiting lists.

This spring saw the SNP's ferries fiasco plumb new depths with almost every island affected by disruption. At one point 8 CalMac vessels were out of service. Island and coastal communities like Argyll and Bute have been utterly shafted by this SNP government.

Under the SNP, there’s a scarcity of NHS dentists in huge swathes of Scotland. Scottish Liberal Democrats believe that toothcare should be like any other form of medical treatment: universally accessible and close to home.

The North East has been failed by the SNP and the Conservatives. For Scottish Liberal Democrats, delivering change with fairness at its heart means no one and nowhere can be left behind. That’s why we have a plan to support jobs, industries and North East communities.

The SNP's abject failure to provide proper care at home or in the community is leaving 2,000 patients stuck in hospital on a typical night. It’s why A&E departments are struggling to move people into hospital and why ambulances are stacking up outside.

SNP ministers don’t seem to care that the government-owned water company dumps millions of litres of sewage throughout our rivers, lochs and beaches. This year they have even hidden the stats on how much was dumped from public view. It’s a total scandal.

We know that a warm, safe, affordable place to live is the foundation on which people build their lives. However, homelessness has reached record levels. Shockingly, the SNP and Greens together cut £200 million from the affordable homes budget during a housing emergency.

All across Scotland, people are feeling the pain of Trump’s illegal war with Iran. Kemi Badenoch, Nigel Farage and Lord Offord should apologise for cheering on this war and driving up the costs for ordinary, hardworking families.

Everyone deserves a warm, safe, affordable place to live. Scottish Liberal Democrats will tackle Scotland’s housing emergency head-on by building more homes and reforming planning so that it is easier to build the homes and infrastructure that we so badly need.

Scottish Liberal Democrats will legislate to make schools smartphone-free environments, so children can learn and teachers can teach. We need to make the cultural change that this requires - it’s just not fair to leave this up to headteachers and ministerial guidance any longer.

The SNP have hired less than 1 in 10 of the GPs they promised in 2017. We would hire more specialist staff to work alongside GPs and manage patient need, and enable pharmacists to do more prescribing, to help get everyone the first-rate healthcare they need when they need it.

In November, Parliament backed a Scottish Liberal Democrat amendment and voted for an independent review into maternity services in Caithness, giving hope to families. What we have now is a review led by an SNP minister instead. Why is the SNP defying the wishes of Parliament?
