Nobel-winning conservative economist Milton Friedman championed a version of universal basic income called the Negative Income Tax. It's more efficient use of our tax dollars, doesn't discourage work, and preserves individual freedoms. Many working guaranteed incomes today have elements of this.

YouTuber Jazza (7M subs) says we must have some kind of UBI. "If AI can replace all human labour, then income simply cannot be tied to human labour for its value."

Canadian journalist Max Fawcett on UBI: "There's all sorts of data that suggests basic income would actually stimulate economic growth… improves health outcomes. And Lord knows improving health outcomes would save taxpayers and the government a lot of money."

UBI is really about value that none of us created but we co-inherit together, like nature. Alaska's Permanent Fund invests common wealth gifted by nature to pay everyone dividends. Started by a Republican, supported by Democrats and Independents.

Andrew Yang's been right about a lot of things and he's right about this. We shouldn't be taxing workers so highly when they're in the crosshairs of automation.
