I firmly believe that the harm from the proposed Incinerator in Canford outweighs the benefit. Today I attended the public enquiry to speak on behalf of the community, and insisted that the appeal should be dismissed. Read my full statement here: www.vikkislade.uk/post/i-spoke...

I'm deeply concerned that the EHRC guidance has let down the group of people most affected by these changes. Where is the concern for the human rights of Trans and non-binary people? I will continue to speak out in solidarity to ensure their rights and dignity are respected.

The horrendous words of Ben-Gvir - Israel's National Security Minister - must not be condoned by this government. The time has come for a full ban on all arms to Israel.

So proud to have sponsored the powerful ‘This Is Menopause’ exhibition in Parliament. Created by local artist Pauline Ferrick-Squibb in collaboration with 55 other women, this exhibition calls for better menopause experiences for all. Huge thanks to AUB and UKRI for funding this art!

Local people now have less say in new housing developments. As of May 2026, the new Planning Infrastructure Act means that any application for 150 homes or more is no longer able to go to a local planning committee.

Sending parcels just got easier! 📮 This upgraded postbox now includes a parcel hatch, and is powered by a solar panel for a smarter, greener service.

It was fantastic to attend the Civic Thanksgiving Service a week ago today. A wonderful celebration of community spirit that brings together councillors, volunteers, organisations and residents from across Dorset.

This week is #mentalhealthawarness Week. 💛 The theme for this year is 'action'. Raising awareness is vital, but real change comes when we take action too. We need action in our NHS, schools, prisons and housing services to better support people when they need it. #mhaw @mentalhealthfoundation

Reflecting on yesterday's King's Speech. 💭 I will be digesting this over the next few days and am aiming to speak on the speech in Parliament on Monday. What did you think?

Huge good luck to everyone doing their SATS, A Levels or GCSEs this week! It can be a tough time, but as long as you try your best, then whatever the outcome you can be proud. 📚

School funding belongs in the classroom, not the boardroom. 📚 The unprecedented cuts at Corfe Hills and QE School are devastating. We need urgent reform to Multi-Academy Trust governance to ensure every penny of funding prioritises our students, not executive operations.

🚒 Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service has a deficit of £1.5 million. 💰️ We must work across parties to encourage the Government to properly fund all our fire services so that we can protect all our residents - regardless of who runs their local fire authority.

I was delighted to be able to host a debate in Parliament last week to raise the experience that many of my constituents have faced. Too many have faced extreme delays due to an antiquated service in which their cases have simply stalled. The DVLA is not a functioning public service.

Last week I met with Darryl, Steve, Terry & Scott to hear their concerns that Holt FC is to be sold. This week I raised this issue in Parliament - community groups can't compete with private buyers. I welcome the Government's commitment for the need for an independent valuation.

A sad day with Dignity in Dying as we expect the Lords to finally throw out the Assisted Dying Bill. However, there is so much hope here. I am passionate about moving this through. In the next session of Parliament we will do all we can to bring this Bill back. Today is a 'bump in the road'.

How wonderful to welcome Sir Ed Davey to Upton Heath yesterday to celebrate the power of community. Alongside Dorset Wildlife Trust, it was the community that came together to secure the section of Upton Heath that was up for sale and ensure that it is protected for future generations.

The DVLA debate is officially in the diary for next Thursday 🚗 I'm collecting feedback from local residents so if you've experienced delays or difficulties with the DVLA, please reach out as I may be able to share your story in the chamber. Get in touch by emailing 👉️ vikki.slade.mp@parlaiment.uk

Project Welcome is a brilliant local campaign raising money to repair and modernise St Mary's in Sturminster Marshall. Today in Parliament I asked if, upon the closure of the Listed Place of Worship grant scheme, projects already underway will still be eligible for the renewal scheme.

A huge thank you for all of your PMQ suggestions 🙏 Over the coming weeks and months I will be looking for opportunities to raise your issues in Parliament - watch this space!

Today I spoke in Parliament to congratulate Dorset Wildlife Trust and local people on their incredible efforts to secure Upton Heath. I asked the Prime Minister to demonstrate his commitment to nature and to legislate to extinguish historic planning consents.

Recess was a jam-packed whirlwind 🌪️ It was great to be out and about across the constituency and I'm now looking forward to continue championing the issues that are important to the people of Mid Dorset & North Poole back up in Parliament 🏆️

📦️ A quick update at the end of my 6 hour shift with Royal Mail. 📮 It has been a fascinating morning looking into the logistics of the process. 📯 I will continue to be a champion for our Posties in Parliament.

✉️ I'm spending the morning tracking your post and speaking with staff to get a better understanding of the process, the challenges and a sense of morale. 📬️ I'm starting at the Dorset Mail Centre, then off to Wimborne Sorting Office and finally I'll be out with a postie.

Now that the Easter Break is over I wanted to bring you an update on the sale of Upton Heath. Please do sign the petition if you haven't already and share with you friends, family and community networks: www.vikkislade.uk Let's demonstrate the strength of local feeling for this special site.

📣 I have a PMQ coming up and want to hear your ideas! ❓️ If you could ask Kier Starmer anything, what would it be? PMQs are a unique opportunity for any MP to challenge the Prime Minister directly on an issue. It could be local, national or global. 💬 Please comment with your ideas below.

Following on from my post yesterday, I wanted to update you all that we may have found a route to help protect Upton Heath through the Localism Act. I have written to the Council to ask them to urgently consider the land for sale as an Asset of Community Value. I will keep you updated 🤞

You may have heard that part of Upton Heath is up for sale. I am working hard behind the scenes to see how we can raise the funds to protect this precious landscape. We must make sure that Upton Heath is protected for nature and for our community.

I spent 10 hours on shift with crews from the South Western Ambulance Service and was blown away by their professionalism and compassion. Under huge pressure, they deliver expert care with calm reassurance. We must back our frontline teams.
