Healthwatch does vital work in Oxfordshire, giving patients a voice and holding NHS services to account. I pressed the Health Secretary to guarantee that local independence will not be weakened as the Government brings patient scrutiny closer to Ministers.

At PMQs today, I pressed the Prime Minister on PFAS contamination affecting our constituency. He agreed that the Health Secretary and Environment Secretary should meet with me. This matters. Residents deserve joined-up action, clear answers and accountability from Government.

Liberal Democrats will push a vote on the Customs Union this evening in Parliament. Wes Streeting has previously thrown his support behind joining the Customs Union. The question is: what will Wes do?

The King’s Speech should have shown the Government had listened. Instead, it was a missed opportunity. Across Bicester and Woodstock, people face rising bills, stretched councils, housing without the infrastructure to match and no serious plan for social care. Britain needs bold change.

Social care is already under severe pressure. Families are waiting too long, providers are struggling to recruit and care workers are not being properly valued. The Government needs to get to grips with this crisis and bring forward a serious plan for social care.

Recognising the state of Palestine was right. But it cannot be the end of the story. Illegal settlements are destroying the prospect of a two-state solution. I pressed the Foreign Secretary to ban settlement goods and stop UK firms, banks and individuals enabling them outright.

If senior officials were being lent on behind ministers’ backs, that is deeply concerning. And if civil servants are then left to carry the can, that only risks further damaging trust. Serious questions to answer here about process, accountability & culture in Government.

Getting around is becoming unaffordable and families are paying the price. Trump’s war in Iran is pushing up fuel costs. While the Tories & Reform cheer on the chaos, the Lib Dems are calling for emergency action: cut fuel duty by 10p, cap bus fares at £1 and cut rail fares by 10%.

Family court delays are leaving families thousands of ÂŁ out of pocket, with no route to recover those costs when hearings are pulled at the last minute. I pressed the minister to explain what the Govt is doing to tackle these delays & the financial strain they place on families.

The decision to end the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme has created real uncertainty for churches and faith buildings, many of which rely on local donations for essential repairs. Ministers must now make clear how they will be supported if this VAT relief ends.

“People used to say that the US was the world’s policeman. Some people will be wondering today whether Donald Trump is now behaving like the world’s hit man.” My comments on LBC this morning, urging the Government not to let the UK get drawn into this illegal, unilateral war.

This week, @timfarron.bsky.social, @victoria-collins.bsky.social & I travelled to Israel and Palestine to listen, learn and ask questions of a range of people. We had robust discussions about aid access, tackling corruption, settlement expansion, overcoming terrorism, and delivering accountability.

Southill Solar gets it right: work with locals, deliver local benefit. Botley West is vast, with weak engagement and thin benefit. The Planning Inspectorate called missing info “very disappointing”. With the Secretary of State now deciding, these concerns must be weighed.

Waste crime is out of control and the Environment Agency is under-resourced. I welcomed confirmation in Parliament that organised illegal dumping will fall under the new National Police Service. This is serious crime and it must be treated that way.

Bicester is growing fast, but young people are being left behind. A former youth arts centre sits largely unused, despite being publicly owned. I asked Ministers today to back places like Bicester with youth funding, where a low-cost solution could make a real difference.

7 5

In yesterday’s Adjournment Debate, I warned the House that illegal dumping is no longer isolated - it is an epidemic. Communities are paying the price while criminal gangs get away with it.

White Ribbon Day matters. Violence against women and girls will only end when men take responsibility for changing the culture that allows it. I’m proud to speak out on #WhiteRibbonDay and every day to help build a safer world for our children.

The huge pile of illegally dumped waste by the A34 in Kidlington is utterly shocking. Yesterday a Govt Minister agreed to meet me, I will ask her to step in to remove this terrifying environmental risk. I’ve also raised this as an urgent matter with the Chief Exec of the Environment Agency.

Victims of domestic abuse deserve real protection, not promises. The Government must ensure it properly funds probation services and electronic tagging to keep survivors safe after perpetrators are released.

Ed Davey is right to boycott Trump’s state banquet. The suffering in Gaza cannot be ignored. Trump has the leverage to bring peace - and Keir Starmer must urge him to act.

After repeated Lib Dem calls, Ofwat is finally being scrapped. But ministers must go further. I challenged the Environment Secretary on sewage monitoring and backed the Evenlode Partnership’s citizen science.

A year ago, I told the PM: scrap Ofwat. Today – after relentless Lib Dem pressure – the Govt has listened. The new regulator must be fit to task. But this is just the start. Our rivers are poisoned. Ministers must now commit to ending all sewage dumping into bathing waters by 2030. No excuses.

Businesses in Bicester want to install solar panels on their rooftops - but they are blocked by local electricity networks. I’ll meet with the Energy Minister to push for change, building on the Sunshine Bill. Rooftop solar should be standard on new commercial buildings, not an exception.

Even after concessions, the PIP plans remain deeply flawed and risk real harm to disabled people, carers and families. There’s no credible plan to support people into work. The Liberal Democrats will vote against this bill - and keep fighting for a fairer, more compassionate system.

In addition to their illness, people with ME/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Long Covid face additional uncertainty and stress caused by their variable symptoms. I asked the Secretary of State to make sure the welfare reforms treat people with fluctuating conditions fairly.

I pressed Ministers again in Parliament on community benefit. My constituents deserves firm commitments before decisions are made on the Botley West plant. The Govt agrees – “responsible developers” should match the proposed levels. I’ll keep pushing Botley West to match the levels proposed.

If the UK wants to lead on climate, it must accelerate the shift to decarbonising public transport. Recycling dirty diesel buses to make them electric makes perfect sense and should be supported by government.
