I *love* this film and I could write an article/paper on its themes! Slavery, draconian mass incarceration, militarisation of the police and the abandonment of human values. Arguably, we're living in the onset of the gradual events that paved the way for the nightmarish future depicted in EFNY.

"After Hours" also released in 1985 and directed by the great Martin Scorsese. It's a delightfully written and directed black comedy with splendid cinematography that goes overlooked in comparison to his biopics and gangster flicks. Another case where I need to pick up the Criterion Blu-ray. 🖤

#RIP to Marcia Lucas, who *along with* Paul Hirsch and Richard Chew edited the original Star Wars trilogy with excellence. In tribute to their work, I had to share a clip of the original - and now largely suppressed 1977 film for which the trio won an Oscar and not the post 1997 "special editions."

For *years* I'd heard it lauded as the greatest film ever, so eventually I tuned in to a BBC2 airing and now, it's my favourite film ever. I go through phases where I watch it religiously and never cease to find new aspects that enthral me. From the cinematography to the screen-writing. Truly epic.
