Los Angeles needs 450k units of housing today. I’m going to Congress to finally fully fund Section 8 and get people housed. Make it federal policy for LA to upzone to multi-family home zones everywhere and to modernize permitting. Solve housing and we solve affordability, jobs and homelessness.

I’m going to Congress to create the first federal response to homelessness. The homeless need stability. The only way to deliver stability is by building 10s of thousands of permanent supportive housing. Permanent is the key and it is the only proven solution to combat homelessness.

The best way to increase public safety in LA is to hire the right people for the job. 65% of LAPD calls are for people in mental distress. The cops are the wrong people to send; it’s a waste of resources and of their valuable time. We have a proven model, Unarmed Model of Crisis Response (UMCR).
